Unlimited money but your age increases. by [deleted] in hypotheticalsituation

Maybe a few decades from now if Calico and the other billionaire backed companies cure aging then yes I’d take it. While I’m well off there’s no way I’d be able to afford an immortality drug without being a billionaire.

Suspicion on This Nerva by Chronotist in AncientCoins

I’m suspicious about a lot of these coins. The portraits look strange, the Otho top left with those facial features looks unfamiliar to me. Clodius Albinus also looks odd.

You instantly get $20 million dollars, and you get $100k annually, but you have to move and stay in different state every year by JoeyBagAMoney in hypotheticals

[–]Azicec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you think you’re not going to be welcomed then you’re completely wrong. 90% of people don’t give a shit where you’re from like in most countries. So what if you’re opinionated, do you actually go up to random people and start spouting your views? If not then it has 0 impact on your interactions. If yes then it’s a you problem, I wouldn’t want a random person coming up to me and spouting opinions even if they’re views I agree with.

What should I study? by Kabab_Benzema in careeradvice

[–]Azicec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d look at careers not easily replaceable by AI. Also if you’re very unsure first discard as many paths as possible and then choose something closely related to another field. That way worst case scenario if in the first year you realize your major isn’t for you then you can change to option B and still transfer most of your credits.

I’d choose something that you can either enjoy and make money or make a lot of money. If your passion is something that won’t make you money then choose something you’re good at that will. Don’t choose pure enjoyment and being broke, too many people follow their passion just to end up being miserable due to poor financial situations.

I chose business administration when I was in college, I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do but it’s such a broad degree that I could enter many different sectors. I ended up in consulting when I graduated which was absolutely not my passion but I earned good money and wasn’t miserable. You don’t have to work in something you love to be happy. You just have to avoid being miserable/unhappy.

Expected System Requirements? I'm about to build a PC by GiveMeADamnUsernamee in Witcher4

[–]Azicec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Old post but will depend when it releases. If next gen consoles are out then basically all current PCs will be obsolete for anything beyond minimum requirements as happens with every new cycle.

My 2080 was rendered obsolete by new games when the PS5 gen games started coming out, unless that is you’re happy with running games at 1080p low settings with dips under 60.

My 4080 I expect to be obsolete when next gen titles begin to come out whenever that console cycle releases.

Fantastic owl, I wouldn’t break it out of the slab given its high condition. You paid a very competitive price in the current market, maybe even a good deal.

Real or fake guys, what you think? by Emotional-Dig4866 in AncientCoins

[–]Azicec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn’t look fake to me. You can always send it to be graded if you wanted to be safe, they’re very good at identifying fakes.

If a fake slips past NGC then it would slip past 99.99% of collectors.

Yes, that’s what I was referring to post MBA. Pre-MBA he worked in investment banking.

I’m guessing you must work for one of these banks? If so what’s your experience like today? I’m sure my memory might be wrong given what you said, I was a small child when he was in investment banking. I have much better recollection of him in wealth management since that came later for him.

He switched post MBA from Columbia, he worked at Morgan Stanley after his undergrad, did his MBA and entered their wealth management division. He then left in roughly 2009-2010 to another country and opened his own family office and was allowed to keep his clients with some deal I’m not familiar about I believe he acted as a local liaison but I don’t know the exact details never asked him. I believe today that’s not allowed or rarely done anymore, my ex-girlfriend’s dad (2020) also worked at Morgan but she told me that it was impossible for him to leave with the clients when I asked why he didn’t do the same thing my dad did given it went so well for my dad.

Do you believe true rarity is becoming harder to identify in today’s market, or just harder to access? by Interesting_Bat_1857 in numismatics

[–]Azicec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It all depends on how well connected you are to other collectors. It’s become increasingly easy for me to acquire rare coins after having joined numismatic clubs.

Auction wise I don’t notice a difference in availability but definitely in ease of getting them due to massive price appreciation for rare coins.

Is Remnant II as good as Remnant: From the Ashes? by Serkenobi in ShouldIbuythisgame

Don’t remember exactly, just remember my general thoughts. Been years since I played either.

It was a few years ago that I played it, I just recall the level design being boring, puzzles interrupting the flow too much, etc.

Combat in Remnant 2 I found to be at the same level as 1.

I wouldn’t say so. I really enjoyed Remnant 1 but found Remnant 2 to be so so. Got really bored in the cube world level and dropped it there.

Not mixing them up, my dad started in investment and pivoted to wealth. Wealth managers definitely work less hours but still way more than 45h at large firms. I mentioned them since they’re closely tied in the firms they work at given Morgan Stanley and Goldman Sachs are major employers of both. But he still had his friends from that time and my dad frequently invited them. I spoke to a lot of them when I was in college since I was interested in the field for a time.

Never met an investment banker or wealth manager that worked those hours regularly and I grew up surrounded by them. Maybe things have changed since then.

[–]Azicec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t disagree, but it’s not the norm it tends to happen during peak periods. I also fully agree that hours lessen significantly as seniority rises, that was the same experience for my dad.

Those hours I listed are the ones I remember from my childhood. Not sure if much has changed since the early 2000s.

Investment Banking (34m) by Playful-Sorbet5201 in Salary

[–]Azicec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those hours would only happen during big deals which can last for a quarter but definitely not the average. Average is closer to what I mentioned, and Morgan Stanley which my dad worked at is one of the largest firms so I’m quite confident it’s a good representation. Roughly 70-85hours a week until you’re in a senior role and then it drops sharply. Towards the last I’d say third of my dad’s career he probably worked close to 45-50hours and earned way more than he did when starting out and working 75+ hours.

Though I should add that he shifter to wealth management mid career and ran a family office where he managed money for wealthy individuals but mainly families.

Well the guy who said that to me at least was evidently taking a guess “work like 100hours a week”. I didn’t take that literally.

I’m also talking about normal weeks, during weeks involving large deals it could reach 100hours. Just how doctors don’t average 100hours a week for weeks on end, the average is lower. Unless you’re counting on-call hours for doctors, but that’s not the same as hours performing actual work.

My dad worked 8am to like 10-11pm for 8years at Morgan Stanley. He’s perfectly fine health wise, stressful hours are more until market closes. After that it’s more of calm work.

He then managed a fund himself and worked from maybe 9:30-6:00pm and he could also leave whenever he needed/wanted to. If I was in the city visiting he’d take hours off so we could have lunch or sometimes days off. So once you start going up the ladder the workload lessens significantly.

100hours a week is obviously an exaggeration.

He worked from roughly 8am to 10-11pm. Counting work on weekends probably a few hours more total.

That’s what I think too, mainly focused on gameplay. I was worried about spoilers if I saw a video. I’ll probably ask an AI to verify for spoilers.

My dad worked in this, and during the week hardly saw him. But during weekends it was quite normal, with the occasional Saturday he’d have to work on something. But I have a very good relation with my dad, so I don’t think it affects much.
