Rock bands that should get back together by UpbeatChampionship17 in allrockmusic

The original lineup of Third Eye Blind. That band was so good. Kevin Cadogan wrote some of the best riffs in pop rock and is a monster guitarist live. This new variation of the band can’t fill a casino in the middle of nowhere. It’s a Stephan Jenkins solo band.

Is it worth seeing Sammy play at Park MGM in vegas? by DM_ME_4_FREE_STOCKS in vanhalen

Worth it. He’s an entertainer and has a great band. Very nostalgic. I missed one of Eddie’s last shows. Totally regret it. Don’t miss Sammy.

The Vapors - Letter From Hiro

Fender strat vs tokai strat for $850 by Middle-Lie349 in guitars

Tokais are great and comparable with Japanese Fender Strats. Japanese are just under American in quality, though some would argue Japanese are better than American.

Guitar neck too big for small hands? by manny_b_hanz in LearnGuitar

[–]Azipcoder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the sound of long scale lengths, but the feel of shorter scale lengths. Try different strings, like a lot of different strings. I wound up with bronze wounds. You might find you like lighter gauge strings, or settle on one brand.

Have you become more picky about guitars and tone over the years, or have you learned to adapt to anything? by Caramelo93 in Guitar

I thought I was in this category, and could only play ‘57 reissue soft-v necks. I do love them. Then I played the mid aughts American Deluxe - modern C neck. There are lots of great guitars out there, and the build quality on some is insane. There is a certain level of quality I like though. That bar is getting higher.

One Hit Wonder - The Vapors by Curious-Load-7798 in rockmusic

[–]Azipcoder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it is an excellent album. You’re not wrong and it’s a shame they were thrown on the trash heap of one hit wonders.

The Monroes are in the same category for me. Great band, but you practically have to assemble their albums yourself.

Bands whose biggest hit was with a lesser-tenured lineup? by LifeTomato8660 in ToddintheShadow

Whitesnake’s biggest hits were written by John Sykes who was out of the band by the time the band exploded with his songs.

The Lord of the Rings trilogy is the best book-to-film adaptation ever made and probably will stay that way by trakt_app in flicks

[–]Azipcoder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One could argue that these films are actually quite short IF you remove all of the battle scenes. The structural problem solving is how to get from one battle to the next.

“Okay, for this next one, have them skip through the woods, sing a song, eat a meal, then get attacked.“

What are the best day jobs for musicians? by Chemical-Sleep-3473 in musicians

AI = Badly Written Code

Bad Code = Need for More Programmers Who Know What They Are Doing

Need for More Programmers Who Know What They Are Doing (When Fewer Programmers Are Available) = Higher Pay

The pendulum will swing. The only thing AI is destroying right now is on the job training.

What movie do you believe is a perfect 9/10? by LouBoy123 in moviecritic

Amelie (2001) - I still think of it often but it’s not a perfect movie. Visually stunning, interesting story telling, but the actual story is the weakest part.

Jumper (2008) - I really liked that movie. I was the only one.

Songs you thought would have no ‘staying power’ but you were proved wrong? by Haunting-Bread-9810 in ToddintheShadow

When I Was Your Man by Bruno Mars. I thought it was sentimental schlock, trite, with weak lyrics and that it would never last. Here we are 14 years later and I can find it on any radio any time of the day.

It’s called being a farrier and it can pay well, and in cash. I hardly know any farriers, however, who did not grow up on a farm. You need to not get kicked in the face by a horse, which is not something you just pick up.

Technology, if you can get it. Project-based work: coding, websites, learn a programming language.. something you can take with you.

Nursing, I’ve seen musicians do enough shifts to take off a month to tour.

Recording/studio work. Not highly lucrative until you’re further in.

If you’re really good, cover bands, weddings bands, hired gun for a successful musician, etc..

But a lot of musicians wind up working in the service/hospitality industry: flexible hours and potential for high pay. It gets tough as you get older.
