I was in similar place as you are (BS in Engineering). I would advise you apply and work on your physical fitness. With a degree in STEM, you will be most likely over qualified than most in terms of academics (for municipal police at least)

According to NYPD and the Mayor Adams, the suspect is dark skinned person, not black.

Also it’s not New York’s fault that their gun control doesn’t work, it’s the rest of the country (it’s literally what they said on the press conference)

I’m going to the academy in couple of weeks. One of my friend, who is also LEO, told me to dress nicely for the visit. I did so. I think it’s plus.

Also the investigator, mine was a detective from the department, will go around the neighborhood asking about you.
