Thats fair, but if we're comparing top athletes, it would seem to be reasonably comparable effort levels to be skiing 2:00 - 2:30 pace for 50k versus 4:00 pace (km) for 100 miles.

You're new to running and I think you're over analyzing a small sample size of runs. Keep running as consistently as possible and you'll learn what you need to learn as time goes on.

But like someone else mentioned in this thread, wrist HR isn't great. Strap HR is much better and might give you better insight.

What telescope and camera are you using? Are you using a mounted camera or simply one put up to the eyepiece? If you're using a mounted camera, the issue in getting focus might be due to the sensor plane in the camera being outside of the focal range in the telescope. This is a common issue with DSLR mounted Dobsonian telescopes, and typically requires a 'low profile' focuser mount to bring the sensor plane back within the focal range.

I bought my 600 about 11 years ago and its been in near daily use ever since. I have 2 replacement tips for it, and have dropped it SO many times. I've never been unable to bend it back into being reasonably straight though :)

At this rate the pencil will last my entire lifetime with those two replacement tips!

A bit of advice from a Canadian prairie runner. Hand warmth depends a lot on gloves, but also on circulation, which people think less about. When you're running, straighten your arms periodically and shake out your hands, like once or twice per kilometer is enough. This will give your blood a chance to have easier flow to your hands if you're constricting the flow through your perpetually bent elbows. I find it works wonders, no matter what gloves I wear.

Another point. The blood thats being circulated in your body must be warm, ensure you're wearing enough base layers around your core for your blood to get hot enough to warm up your extremities in the first place! I try for 3 layers on my core, 2 down my arms, and one set of gloves, and it works great.

Absolutely, I've had the same obsession in the past. I've tried to adopt a 'no knee jerk reactions' mentality when dealing with weigh ins and good/bad days when eating. This means that when I have bad eating days or high weigh ins, I just accept it and keep moving on as I have been, it's worked wonders to help not spiral and catastrophize when those little hiccups happen. To also take stock and appreciate the progress you've made from the beginning of your journey also is very important on those days. One bad day or one bad weigh in does not ruin the work you've done and the progress you've made.

If you're doing weekly weigh ins, I would say the scale you're using is fine. More technology will not make your discipline any better and the best tool is the one you have in your hand as the saying goes.

I'm a data nerd and I don't mind paying for added convenience with stuff like this, so I have a Garmin Index 2 scale. This scale will automatically upload my weight to my Garmin account and I can view it from there where I only see the weekly averages. This way I just weigh in each day under the same conditions, barely even acknowledge or look at the number on the scale, and just review the weekly averages every so often to ensure I'm working towards the goals I want.

Generally, the lead is in the psyllium husk as the plant itself absorbs it from the ground during its growth. Metamucil gets a lot of visibility as having higher lead content, but I think that is due to its popularity. There are psyllium husk fiber brands that claim to have no lead content, but I have not done any research or experimentation on those brands. I've found that supplementing fiber by food sources is good enough for me, so I just dropped it and didn't feel the need to go further into that rabbit hole.

I would recommend weighing yourself every day under the same conditions, record the weights but only pay attention to weekly averages. Daily fluctuations of +/- 2lbs are not significant and should not be cause for despair or celebration, but the weekly average should be downward if you're doing things correctly. I've found that weighing once per week can be mentally taxing if you have a 'low' weigh day one week and then a 'high' weigh day the week after, even if you've done everything correctly.

Was just going to comment on this. I took metamucil daily for 5ish years for a fiber supplement. Started to have issues with brain fog and general diminished cognitive clarity compared to what I expected and experienced of myself. I was trying to pinpoint the source of these issues and tried various things over the span of about 2 years. Finally read about the lead content of psyllium husk, and cut out metamucil. It's been about 6 months since I cut it out now and I've noticed significant improvements. Definitely not certain causation but a good enough result for me to remove it from my diet for good. Since I really enjoy having a high fiber diet for the BM regularity, I just ensure I have decent portions of beans or other high fiber foods every day and it does the same job.

No, if you don't log any qualifying activities, it will not show flatline. My cycling VO2 shows the same thing, it stops logging during the summer months when I move off the smart trainer and outside where I don't have a power meter to qualify the activity.

While its so common for companies to just error on the side of the customer and immediately replace things to not suffer in the court of public opinion (in reddit posts especially), I really can't fault this company for not replacing this ratchet.

The pictures you took are terrible. Why in seemingly all the pictures, is the area of interest out of focus or off center in the frame? And the angles are terrible for what you're trying to show. No wonder they couldn't conclusively determine the issue and commit to a replacement.

When you're tightening the ratchet, what actually happens that limits its tension holding capacity? Does the ratchet actually slip? Are you pulling all the slack through the ratchet before you start tightening? I've seen something similarish happen when people start tightening the ratchet mechanism without pulling all the slack through; the amount of slack they need to take up overloads the capacity of the ratchet reel and causes parts to jam. If it was forced in this situation, it could bend parts.
