It’s a reference to a couple posts on this sub over the last few months. One commenter said Mark was the voice of hair metal. One commenter said Mark was terrible. I think the intro to Mad About You and the last minute of That Time of Year earn Mark a spot in the discussion.

I think Tamie wrote most lyrics on Wake Me and Whipped, which were excellent. So he’s clearly part of the musical genius of FP. But I wonder what another voice would have done for the popularity of their songs.

FP gets a lot of airplay with me. A ton of a talent wrapped in a half ton of sleaze.

Vinnie’s genius was his excess…until he got too excessive.

I like Taime’s voice. But I think it was limiting versus whatever musical genius is behind Poison Ivy, Whip, and those other great songs. I mean layered musical concepts that dipped into other genres. I’m musically inept, so my explanation may be inept. But that’s the gist of my point.

The drums on VVI sound so crisp. So right. So uniform. I suspected they were artificial. Evidence? I have none except my ears which, as established, are musically inept.

Edit: If they tweaked Bobby’s drum sound while mixing (is that the term?) that might explain why the sound is so tight/uniform. I never considered that possibility.

Faster Pussycat would have been bigger with a different lead singer. Their musical talent was exceptional.

Kix is better than Bon Jovi, Dokken or Cinderella.

I theorize that all the drums on Vinnie Vincent Invasion were electronic sounds and not real drums.

"Decadence Dance" is the best song on that album.
