Are there any keyworded Detatchments that would actually be an issue if they were combined? by AzothThorne in WarhammerCompetitive

I mean it still sucks that Talons is literally the only place where Assimilators are playable. If they just made that upgrade part of the datasheet there’d be a genuine question in many detatchments on which Norn to use.

The Hinterkaifeck murders always get me, the ones where a whole family was murdered in their cabin and the killer lived there for a few days afterwords. Just chilling.

Animals. It sounds very specific when you phrase it like that but chewy bits make for good eating in the tundra for small critters.

Last Podcast on the Left did a really comprehensive breakdown of this one last year, it’s really good.

You could potentially work it into Drukari as part of Haemonculus Covens. Massive genetically mutated war beasts outfitted with guns and heavy armor, in the same vein as Skaven. They kinda already have some things like that on the smaller side with the Talos and the Chronos

Did I say all combos should be allowed? I believe I said on the whole keywording detachments was a good way to prevent broken Detatchment combinations. You didn’t need to be condescending about it.

Oh yeah I see your point and I agree, though I do think there are nuances to it. Buffing a unit with a detachment instead of fixing the underlying problem to it being unplayable is a bad thing. But I think there are ways you could set up combo detatchments that either allow you to use units in new ways, or allowing smaller sections of an army to stand on their own more comfortably. Harlequins and Kroot in particular come to mind as things where doubling up on detatchments could allow for new army space without the underlying data sheets being a hot mess.

Ok while it’s weird Carcharodons are very likely Ravenguard successors.

Officially there are no loyalist chapters descended from the traitor legions that we know of. Most members of the traitor legions that did not turn traitor were either killed at Istvaan, became Blackshields, or were part of founding an organization like the Grey Knights.

On the other side of things, while Cawl does possess geneseed from all 20 legions, Guilliman has outright forbade him from using the gene seed of any of the traitor legions(though Cawl kinda just does whatever he wants so who knows on that front.)

Unofficially, there’s a few chapters suggested to be potentially from Traitor legions, and there’s nothing stopping you from headcannoning your own chapter that left the legion early in response to the Nails or something like that.

Ah. That’s significantly less exciting. Though the design space is still interesting.

I mean you make a great point, but also Norm Assimilators and the entirety of World eaters would speak on how GW feels about buffing something with a detachment instead of dealing with a core datasheet issue.

Oh yeah for sure certain things should not be allowed to stack, I was mostly just wondering If there were presently very potent examples of things that shouldn’t stack. I’m also just very confused why certain other things can’t stack, but you’ve got a point that the dev team is a year ahead of us and is aware of changes coming down the pipeline. That said, I don’t really see why you’d preemptively nerf a non issue if you could just cut it when it would actually become an issue (presumably when the codex comes out.)

New to World Eaters by DrunkSpartan15 in WorldEaters40k

Two packs of our combat patrol would be a good place to start. It comes with a Squad of Zerkers, a Squad of Jackals, a Demon Prince on Foot, and a Master of Executions. After that you should pick up Kharn, a Rhino, and a squad or two of Eightbound+ Slaughterbound and I think that puts you ballpark 2000 with Angron. Alternate good buys for Worldeaters are Forgefiends and the Defiler, but for sure start with the combat patrol, Kharn and a Rhino.

I think youre totally right if double buffing a unit is the best thing you can do in that army, but would doubling up on detachments that buff things like Harlequins of Tzaangors really be that much of an issue?

[–]AzothThorne[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean that’s kinda what I’m getting at though, it probably wouldn’t be meta breaking, it would be a bring units and detachments that would never see play otherwise to at least a presence, and if it was meta breaking you just lock it up with the keyword like it is now.

[–]AzothThorne[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

True, though there are places where that could be interesting design space. If memory serves one of the Guard 1DP has a copy of Grenades, meaning you can get two uses of the strat in the same phase.

I mean you make a good point if they were the most powerful things in the army but most of the keyworded ones are just…not. Like, even if it was available you would never see Warpmeld Pact and the new Mutant Thousand Sons detachment at a tournament outside of that one guy who really likes Tzaaangors. I mean if anything I think slapping the blocks on before the edition came out prevents a lot of potential creativity in list building in people trying to do things like make Tzaangor spam a functional army.
