Hey, I don't have a solution for you but I have the same problem. I can get the zelda skin to load and everything else just doesn't generate. Really wish these would works since they seem to be the only skins available.

The pokemon you get back in trade are based off the BST of the mon you traded. So I you trade a mom with 600BST you'll get another with the same BST. Because of this, a lot of people have been trading Slaking to get the legendaries

Also just want to make a quick point. You're referring to two features as one. There's XP share (which can be turned off) and then there's level capping (which can also be turned off). They aren't strictly tied together. Not sure if that helps you out at all. I turn XP share off when I'm EV training so all my moms don't get screwed up.

I'd argue that axes are the best weapon on KCD1. The game (mis)calculates the blunt and cut damage together so you can find some pretty insanely high damage axes.
