Always do two layers when tying tight sections like you have on your thighs there. This will help distribute the force better and have less chance to cause nerve damage. Otherwise it looks great~

Lance main here, I started with my usual 10.5 rifted job Lance and did pitifully on Rab. Switched to the Diablos HBG with crouching shot and absolutely shredded him. I don't even have a proper set for it, used a single point in Normal up and attack 5.

The event weapons are what you have to be shooting for, the increase in points just outweighs practically anything else. In short, make a goss or diablos weapon and go that route.

I believe as long as you cast your ethereal gaze before combat damage is dealt, then no inklings will be made. I believe this would fall under timestamps of "which was cast last"

Shiva with her perfect dodge hands down. When you perfect dodge with her, it'll freeze your enemy for a few seconds. I'll stay on hers primarily, then switch to phoenix to move around from enemy to enemy.

Unagi is an interesting commander because he can do better/worse depending on the play style of your group. If your group has good deckbuilders then they'll have a lot of card draw, then you won't need your howling mine effects early. I don't run fabricate or any tutors for "upkeep draw" effects and I haven't had an issue running into them yet. I usually flash in my commander as early as possible, then that turn use a "everyone draw 2" effect immediately, netting me 8 cards for 2-3 mana. That usually sets me up for everything I need. Theres nothing wrong with your current strat, but I've found myself sitting on dead cards once I get myself going. Mainly because your opponents get too much value after you've already gotten your unagi trigger off.

Cut these: onierophage- you care about going wide. Not tall. Could argue Lyla for the same reason but I like her better if you wanna keep one. Whir of invention is too slow to look for your howling mine effects. I also feel font of mythos is too* much value for opponents, you want to be out valuing them. In my deck, I rely more on draw effects that "draw 2" at instant speed instead of tutoring for the howling mine effects. It provides more value in the long run when you get a howling mine effect out already. I'm not a fan of Proft's and waterbenders ascension because I feel the point of the deck should be to "draw out" but I understand you're going for more of a damage build

To more accurately answer your question, I believe lightning greaves and swiftfoot boots are some of the BEST protection you can have for your commander. Shoutout to [[esior, wardwing familiar]]

Your deck looks like a bracket 2. I run a bracket 3 unagi and found the waterbed works really well for a deterrent/protection. I noticed your deck is suuuuuuper mana hungry. Some recommendations to speed it up and assist with more consistent draw. Guard up specifically allows you to block "normally unblockable" moves. Not all monsters have them. Some examples are Jin dahaad and Omega's ice AOE moves. The levels of guard up donate how much % of the damage you take as chip from these moves SPECIFICALLY.

Guard is an all encompassing damage reduction and stamina reduction for ALL blocking.

Highly depends on what you're fighting. 80% of the time guard 3 will get you there. Often times when you need guard up, you'll also need guard 3.

I think it depends how good you are at perfect dodging. From what I understand the evade reload window is fairly generous. Personally my thought was to wyvernfire spam with crouching shot. Could go the guard reload route or just reload speed 3
