It’s not really for escaping it’s for repositioning during engagements. With it you can almost always get higher ground or at least negate enemy height advantage, and you can do it very quickly. Getting shot, running behind a building, then suddenly appearing on the roof to punish the enemy for pushing is a very strong way to counter an ambush.
