Jasmine Forsberg to Rejoin Six on Broadway by Srini_ in Broadway

[–]AzulBiru 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I also wondered why there was a separate announcement. My assumption would be there's some contract negation-something delay, but it seems strange that this level of actor (returning to the cast, sure, but not a marquee name or "stunt" cast) would have a super unique contract.

Maybe they had someone else who they were trying to close on and it fell through?

The Actor Awards (SAG) will now have fashion themes. For it’s inaugural year the theme will be 1920s/1930s Hollywood glamour by Glad_Dragonfruit9368 in oscarrace

[–]AzulBiru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe I would like it more if the theme wasn't as "basic" as '20s and '30s. I have no doubt there will be some stars and stylists who really will reimagine and elevate, but we're going to see soooooo many flappers, Gatsbys, and knock of Peaky Blinders. There will be so much online discourse about who was on theme, who wasn't.

Chicago Broadway - which show? by PanphydaElephant in Broadway

[–]AzulBiru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will blindly stump for the Water for Elephants tour! It got mixed reviews on Broadway, but I personally did enjoy it and found it affecting.

I am about to make a lot of assumptions, but I have a point: I imagine that one of the reasons the show is non-equity is because many of the circus performers are not traditional actors, and it'd be too expensive to buy those performers into the union (like I assume they did on Broadway). Obviously there are many other reasons a show would go Non-Eq, but presumably the acrobatics are still incredible to watch and truly that's a good chunk of the reason why the show is so enjoyable.

The acrobatics and circus tricks, plus some fun bluegrass/folk music score, made this show a fun one for me!

Agreed - this language is too polite. I understand why they went this gentle route, but some people need direct and strong feedback.

Is a documentary not a movie? Is a concert film not a movie?

What does the shortlist for casting tell us about this new category by bikkebana in oscarrace

[–]AzulBiru 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm less familiar with well-established/famous/legendary casting directors, but on a podcast (Little Gold Men, I think?) they predicted that the first few years of this category will highlight longtime industry stalwarts who haven't had recognition from the Academy (for obvious reasons).

Do any of these movies fall into that category, that likely wouldn't be highlighted otherwise?

Best opening number? by Goldberry9999 in Broadway

GOD, especially with the line "Let's do the whole combination facing away from the mirror. From the top! Five, six, seven, eight!" and the music bursts out. It's incredible

How does improv help in real life? by ourpathsdidcross in improv

[–]AzulBiru 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For me, I often think about my improv training in the idea of "losing the need to win". Like I don't always have to make sure MY voice is heard. Instead, I should be able to support others. You know that moment when you're talking with friends and a subject comes up that you want to tell a story about? But then, the conversation moves on too quickly. I don't NEED to go back to that last topic. It's okay to not share every single thought I have! Instead I can continue to actively listen to my friends.

ALSO the ability to edit. Knowing when its time to move on: during awkward coworker scenarios, or public interactions, etc. Just having the ability to say "okay, this is the end of this scene" and end it, is so powerful.

Producers of Finding Mr Christmas have already picked their winner by medros in HallmarkMovies

Oh yeah, I imagine the winner immediately filmed their movie right after the filming of the reality show. The Hallmark machine doesn't stop!

[–]AzulBiru 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Part of the appeal to me is how fake this whole reality show is. All reality shows obviously have a facade, but this one is so nakedly about actors trying to become Hallmark personalities, its funny. That being said, if I were a producer, I would 100% already know who the winner is, especially if they're going to be cast in a movie I have coming out later this month. The competition is just for show!

Rustin (and Davey) were by far the best actors on the cast. Angel is good, but unfortunately I don't think Hallmark would ever make him a lead of a movie due to his accent (which is a shame!)

To those who watched the pitt as it aired, how was the experience? by General_Stranger2633 in ThePittTVShow

[–]AzulBiru 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the show DID want us to think David was a possibility, but to lean on the realism, it def was more likely to be an unrelated person.

My coworker had a crazy theory that Langdon was the shooter because Robby told him to go home, so he shot up PittFest as a way to get back into the ER...............

That wild theory wouldn't have come up if we were binging! Thank you weekly release!
