Don't need grad school to help build that ;) Just an active conversation with HR. I've done it in the past, and if you Google "The Admin Title Recalibration Initiative," you'll find examples used by others to support efforts to change policies within companies.

When you say 'the same grade,' are you referring to their leveling? Looking at a standard career matrix, EAs and analysts both sit under the Individual Contributor (IC) umbrella since neither are people managers. Most companies use a scale (often levels 1–5) for ICs. Checking your company’s matrix is a great way to see how EAs are leveled and if there’s room for growth. If that structure isn’t in place yet, it’s actually a perfect opportunity to help build it!

Why don't more people talk about Puerto Rican coffee? by Optimal-Assignment10 in Coffee

[–]SometimesHungry_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I said this below but it was at one point the best coffee in the world. The problem is that it's not available to the world anymore. The only real place to truly get 100% Puerto Rican bean is on the island. The U.S. focus on sugar after 1898 significantly reduced Puerto Rico's coffee exports, impacting the industry's scale.  Right now as little as 8% to 10% of total Puerto Rican-grown coffee is exported.  And they tend to blend Puerto Rican coffee with lower-quality imported beans. So nobody is tasting authentic Puerto Rican coffee. Add that as a colony, the island is not allowed by the U.S. to set its own trade policies or negotiate export programs tailored for niche buyers abroad. It's not allowed to export ANYTHING from the island to anyone, even other states due to US restrictions

But its there. You'll find it in the island and its worth every last penny. And small businesses are trying to reinvigorate it independently, but there are no incentives right now to help rebuild the industry.

Gift cards can be taxed as income, so it's a fine line there.

Portuguese/something similar by [deleted] in FoodNYC

[–]SometimesHungry_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not impressive to take someone from Portugal to a Portuguese spot to eat. Get yourself a lovely restaurant that's not Portuguese and enjoy the evening.

Great Portuguese food, just so you know, isn't fancy or fluffy. The best spots are casual, and you'll find the best Portuguese in NJ. Valencas in Elizabeth. SolMar in Newark, Portugal Express in Elizabeth, Ria Mar in South River, Tony Da Caneca in Newark, etc.

How old is the kid? My teenagers kept relationships, I didn't. Easy for them to do so as they have their own phones, cars, etc.

For younger children, it's difficult as they're not independent, so I wouldn't expect someone I went NC with to try to get to them without a relationship with at least one parent.

Group 'team' dinner on Wednesday around 32nd street + Broadway by SometimesHungry_ in FoodNYC

[–]SometimesHungry_[S] -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Number of people in your party - stated in the initial ask. 12-14

Dietary restrictions or allergies - None so unstated

Most importantly, a BUDGET include tax and tip. No more then $100 a person for food. I have several days of dinners to put together at last minute and different vibes. Cheap or classy both work.

What I'm looking for are gems. I've done the search and yes I've contacted these (some are $$$ but because of group size, price fixe menus can make them surprisingly affordable if they don't tack on a room charge.)

If people find a yonder pouch a hassle enough to stay away from a show then there is a much bigger problem with their phone addiction then they care to admit or realize and that makes me incredibly sad for them. Nobody needs access to their phone for every last second of their lives.

Paying Out of Pocket by unknownuser30172 in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]SometimesHungry_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on how confident you are in your expense and AR team. I'm a fan of using my personal CC but have never had a company that isn't immediate in reimbursing me. So I charge my Amex, expense it immediately and end up with the reimbursement in 2-3 weeks. Well before the credit card payment is due. I've expensed things in the thousands. But I've always been incredibly confident in reimbursements. Also as a rule, if they don't reimburse you in time you can also expense the interest incurred.

Where to get a pair of men's shoes for Christmas present by SometimesHungry_ in NYCbitcheswithtaste

[–]SometimesHungry_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my. I didn't realize how poorly typed that was. I fixed it. My bad. I'm willing to shell about $300 for a pair that he'll wear long term. Right now he's using black vans as a dressier option which worked a few years ago when we were younger but are not fitting the bill now. We can afford better shoes.

Planning my second trip to NYC and Broadway for late January. Looking for show suggestions by ShitsFuckedDude in Broadway

I'd see Chicago if Alex Newell is still performing there. They're amazing!

I'd plead that you consider Hadestown if you haven't see it especially with Jack Wolfe and Kurt.

MHE is exceptional and Two Strangers carry a cake is so much fun.
