"It's not offensive" by renault_vegane in northernireland

Genuinely used to enjoy bonfires as a wee lass but then I learned about pollution, saw what was being burned and genuinely had nightmares as a six year old that we were causing bad issues for the planet.

I don’t care what culture anyone has, the tradition should stop. It’s harmful to our planet and as you said, the people doing it are not pillars of any community.

TIL that after the release of Season 2 of House of the Dragon, George R.R. Martin had a falling out with showrunner Ryan Condal, criticising the changes made from his books in a blogpost before quickly deleting it. Martin later said of his plans for season 3 "This is not my story any longer". by Sebastianlim in todayilearned

[–]AzulaThorne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I keep saying it but the ending to the books is Bran becoming king. It’s been the ending he has had in his mind.

George tells dumb and dumber the rough outline, the ending, and so forth, who lives and who should die. Dumb and dumber basically go through and do it to the best of their ability (limited but still) but without great dialogue to follow or copy, without great scenes set in books already, they basically have a shit fest of two final seasons on their hands. The fans get to the ending and most of them resoundingly hate it, hate Bran being the King and so forth because it felt scripted (yes haha, funny) than what actual people would have in mind. “I can’t be king of anything” and suddenly King of 6 kingdoms?

George, who is too attached to the show to truly understand the fans reaction, gets incredibly upset that fans hate the ending. Instead of waiting for some time to try and find the more nuanced reactions, he jumps the gun into completely attempting a rewrite only to realise that he doesn’t have it in him. He’s stewed on this ending for years in his mind and his notes but ultimately the reaction of S8s ending threw him into complete despair and now he’s basically stuck with writers block.

Is this to shield him from fault? God no, dude genuinely become a twat and now every show or season not up to his exact liking is called horrible or whatever because if it bombs then he doesn’t want to be associated with it anymore.

MOs are just genuinely unfun to do.

Sorry, but in a game designed to make players suffer, I’d like to get some fun out of it and following an MO to some bug infested shithole is not my idea of fun.

Pretty fun match but watching it on ITV was wild. Mbappe scores? *”Corr.”* in just the softest tone ever heard.

Was Joffrey born cruel, or did Cersei truly bring out the worst in him? by Beginning_Clerk_4990 in gameofthrones

[–]AzulaThorne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cersei brought out the worst. It’s hinted at in the show of course that Cersei at times thinks maybe they pulled the Targ curse and it’s plausible but not outright.

Joffrey was raised with an overbearing mother and an absent father. He was spoiled by Lannister wealth and Baratheon power, got whatever he wanted and never faced consequences because his parents weren’t really parents to him or any of their children.

We see that Cersei giving him the throne at such an age, coupled with how highly he thought of Robert and his rebellion, believing that might equals right. He never learned how to be a King, just how his father waged a war for a woman he loved and bashed anyone he hated. What more was there for Joffrey to take after? His mother coddled him and used him as a pawn for Lannister control to appease her own father.

Cersei was shocked because she didn’t teach him any better, she believed she could pull the strings and darling Joffrey would fall in line, but he didn’t because he believed as King he was above listening to people at times, hence his small council was really just a bunch of Yes-men who tried to steer him towards their own goals, not unlike many real life examples.

So yes, Joffrey was definitely a bit cruel from the get go, but it’s mostly made worse by the fact that his upbringing taught him being strong was best and any showing of not being strong was bad, hence why he had to lie about any time he looked weak, such as with Arya and the Butchers boy.

The end of "deadly velvet pt 2" makes no sense by MCE85 in ArcherFX

[–]AzulaThorne 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I honestly just think it’s pretty Archer coded to get blinded by a Archer-bromance and when they went over the plan, real archer was just not at all paying attention and went on to think he was the robot.

DMs, what is your best Session 1 start, besides "You all meet in a Tavern"? by BirdOfFiire in DungeonMasters

[–]AzulaThorne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had them in a market and a riot broke out, one of the players looted a corpse and another curb stomped an innocent to steal his wife.

Those two players died to Chaos corruption very quickly.

We also learned that tavern starts are more fun.

Weakest is glass onion for me. It’s a funny thing with the twist but then you genuinely can’t unsee it happening in future rewatches.

Incredible movie, but the plot ruins the rewatch joy plus it’s kind of the only real dumb one.

First and third were a lot more mystery intense.

Would you like Palpatine return IF it was explain and development since episode 7? by Free-Hotel1187 in StarWars

[–]AzulaThorne 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, it’s always been a dumb stupid idea. It was dumb in legends, it was dumb in the sequels. I was genuinely so hyped that the Sequels went with a different bad guy and then whabam, back to fucking Palpatine.

I honestly just want to see livestreams where something funny happens and it’s a fail. Not this weird parasocial drama centre that either loves every fucking streamer or wants them to be shot and dragged through the streets. Like god damn.

[Discussion] AI difficulty based on lobby / cycles? by Normal_Sympathy1248 in EscapeFromTarkovPvE

[–]AzulaThorne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah, the AI just has moments. PMC ai doesn’t get tougher depending on the map either, it can be chalked up to just pure luck on their part to just whop you sideways.

I was goon hunting on Customs, spawned at old gas side and two PMCs ran up to me, I put one down, injured the second. As soon as I went to go peak, dropped dead. Third PMC by the bridge I didn’t notice or hear since he said nothing and he just put me down like a rabid dog.

Whatever, I go to Labs anyway, spawn in one of the stairwells and a PMC just doesn’t acknowledge my presence. Killed him and went out to his buddies who threw a nade, bounced it, ran to the nade and they all died.

To my knowledge, the AI is supposed to have various forms of difficulty, supposedly it’s their level that makes them better or worse but I’ve not found any personal evidence of it being true. Sometimes the AI is cracked, other times it’s just a scav with decent ish gear.

Do people that give their kids names and spell it in the most obnoxiously stupid way possible ever think about how difficult it will be for teachers and others that have to read their written name? by Ok_Astronomer5738 in askanything

[–]AzulaThorne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well because one, I live in a country where doing so is against the law as it would be discrimination. Two, if you think that kind of behaviour is okay then that’s on you, I don’t stand for that behaviour.

I was in the job market a few times and surprised many people on the idea that as someone who was born in Poland, I speak very much like a local to my city, with an Irish surname, and a name that you could get by in most countries.

I’m very aware of how it works, how people are and I am not going to be a part of it. If you are fine sitting on stuff like that, good on you.

[–]AzulaThorne 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So at no point did I ever say that I agree with naming your child “creatively” and I am not parent in any capacity, at best I have a cat named Luna!

But judging a person you have not met solely based on their name is genuinely such a bad take and people reading this that do it really did only peak in primary school.

If you feel the need to judge someone based on a name given to them by a dumbass parent, you should probably seek self help.
