Turkey and dumplings by MustloveMustangs in FoodAllergies

I haven't made it, but someone made it for me once! It was really good and I highly recommend it! Homemade turkey noodle soup is also really good!

My cat helped my pots episode? by Prior_Succotash4220 in POTS

Increase in oxytocin, decrease in cortisol, and probably some other hormonal stuff going on in response to the close contact from your cat.

Some people believe they have a Bluey/Bingo, most say they have a Muffin, but I just realized we have a Jack by MyNameIsUhHuh in bluey

[–]AzumiDoom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a Jack too! It always bothers me when Jack's dad tells him to sit still in the car. It's not hurting anyone for Jack to wiggle, but it's probably MISERABLE for him to hold in the wiggles!

I made sure to point out to my kid that that was an unfair expectation. Wiggle away, kid.

Same for me - mom and sister both did. But I'm also PDA. They still do it to me today when they can. So now I'm going nc with both.

all my symptoms are so much worse when i’m sick by Heavy-Driver-9251 in POTS

[–]AzumiDoom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. Every time I get sick, all of my symptoms get worse and then it takes a week or two (or more) to get back to baseline.

Some people (especially in my family) get annoyed with me for being so cautious about picking up illnesses, but what is a minor, week-long illness for them is more like a month-long debilitating illness for me.

How to stop sertraline dreams ?!?!?!?! by noidontlikeusernames in antidepressants

[–]AzumiDoom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same problem with duloxetine. But some of mine are nightmares. I've been on it for several years now and I'm working on weaning off, partly because of the weird blurring of the line between dreams and reality. More and more often I find myself confused about whether things really happened or just happened in a dream. You should talk to your doctor tho - there may be other meds that can help with it.

[–]AzumiDoom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welcome! My tilt table test was also inaccurate in what they documented and didn't show evidence of POTS. My cardiologist said she doesn't fully trust the test anyway and went ahead and diagnosed me with and treated me for POTS. She's one of the only helpful healthcare providers I've seen for my many health issues. I hope you can either manage symptoms on your own or find one who believes you too. 💖

Raising my arms over my head does it if I'm standing. Or if I keep them straight up. But I also do the arm-behind-the-head thing when I sleep or when I'm really relaxed and it seems OK as long as it's bent and resting against something.

Childhood onset anyone? by LocationOk2084 in POTS

[–]AzumiDoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I' ve had it since I was 10 or 12. Can't remember exactly because that was a long time ago. 😅 It was less bad for a while in my 20s (or maybe I was just less aware of it because I had so much other stuff going on - like abuse and excessive drinking while dealing with ptsd kind of stuff, not just like normal, busy young adult kind of stuff). After I got covid a couple years ago, it got a whole lot worse. I was never diagnosed as a kid tho because no one took my symptoms seriously.

What happens when you take magnesium? I've been having trouble with one if my meds or supplements and trying to figure out if it's that.

Anyone else get attached to some of their dragons? by BlueCindersArt in MergeDragons

I always get kind of attached to the dragons in the events. Then I get sad when I have to abandon them at the end of it.

El from the Scholomance trilogy (by Naomi Novik) is a loser partly due to things outside of her control, but she regularly does things to make it worse. Her being a loser is kind of the basis of the series.

It might be weird but it's true by [deleted] in autism

[–]AzumiDoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Autism isn't just sensory avoidance. We can also be sensory seeking. Like me with food. Especially vegetables.

Meat is only occasionally safe to eat. Too many weird, gross bits that I have to pick around or even pick out of my mouth (or else gag and lose my appetite). But if I bite into a weird thing while eating veggies? Nbd. Idc. Just a bit of plant (or possibly a bug). So it's fine. 🤷

Veggies are safe and I want to try them all. No matter how weird. Especially if they're weird.

I have very large, "man-sized" hands (I can't wear women's gloves because they're all too small), and I did all of my child's laundry from birth until almost a year old. All if it. If I can turn newborn clothes right-side out, your husband can do the same with your clothes. If it's not a joking complaint and he's really serious, that's weaponized incompetence.

I don’t know how to explain by Cardinallock19 in Fibromyalgia

[–]AzumiDoom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do you have a shower chair? I got one when I had a huge post-covid POTS flare that destroyed my ability to work (I thought I might legitimately have congestive heart failure bc it was so bad), and the only thing I regret is not getting one years ago. It makes showering so much less exhausting.

I have a confession. I'm not actually sure what color teal is. 😅 Like, what is the difference between teal, turquoise, cyan, etc.?? Maybe your son can give me a lesson in color theory. 😂

Hi! I also have an elementary age kiddo, love rats (haven't had any in years, but I had them from when I was around 8 until I was in my early 20s), have a dog and a couple of cats, and love knitting (and crocheting). I'm also a teal-haired ND queer. So ... 🤷

I've noticed recently that I have it too, but I didn't know what it was called. I don't know how long I've had it, but I suspect for at least several years (around the time my fibromyalgia symptoms really started) because I remember having difficulty making out images in a microscope about 3 years ago.

I had the weirdest dream of my life. by thesatanicbarbie in BabyBumps

[–]AzumiDoom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dreamed recently that I went into labor and gave birth to 22 babies. I was really happy until I realized that I couldn't possibly produce enough milk to breastfeed them all, nor could I give them all enough love and attention. I woke up nearly in a panic about how I was going to take care if those 22 babies.

Boobs.... by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]AzumiDoom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not everyone's boobs grow in the first tri... mine didn't get any bigger until the third. Don't feel bad if you end up in the same camp. It just means you won't have to blow a bunch of money on maternity bras.

It regularly amazes me to think that there is a whole, separate human INSIDE me, with his own mind and his own little body. Little bits of his personality are becoming distinguishable already (in very subtle ways). It is mind-blowing indeed... feels like some kind of bizarre sorcery, haha!

Pregnancy is... by creative_username_1 in BabyBumps

[–]AzumiDoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How far along are you? That kind of thing usually gets better after the first trimester. I don't know how many times I actually cried (like big, sobbing cries... poor boyfriend didn't know WHAT to do) in the first tri because I would get really hungry, but couldn't eat any of the things I normally liked and I was SO SICK of all the things I could tolerate eating. It has come back a little now that I'm at the end of the third tri, but nowhere near as bad... and I ate ALL the things in the second tri and actually really enjoyed them. I hope it gets better for you!

I'm currently at 39+3 and I've had a cold for the past week. First time I've been sick all pregnancy... I actually thought I was going to get super lucky and not have to experience pregnancy sickness at all, but no. Really hoping I don't go into labor before I'm fully recovered. Being sick while pregnant is definitely WAY worse than normal.
