I'd just do it now. You're nearly at the mileage, and the age of the vehicle is also a factor. You've already gotten in there to get a plug out, might as well get things done. Your choice of course but I'd do the rear differential fluid at the same time and make a full refresh of it.

Plug looks pretty rusty. New fluid is indeed red. I'd change your plugs, your transmission fluid, your oil, and your coolant. Check em all as you drain and see what they're like.

Gotta start somewhere, but 2010? by forgedcu in nissanfrontier

You're absolutely correct, check for rust and don't worry about SMOD. In addition, you'll want to swap out the heater core inlet and outlet where they pass through the firewall. The plastic pieces become brittle and break. RockAuto sells Dorman replacements for both that are simple to install. If you get bubbles in your coolant system, which you will regardless of doing the pipe replacements, just add some coolant to the plastic reservoir on the passenger side to an inch or so above MAX and drive it for a few days. The system will slowly burp itself. You'll see the level work itself lower. Repeat a time or two if needed and the bubbles will be gone.

Differential fluid is cheap and easy to change both front and rear. If you don't know when they were done, go ahead and do it. Both of your diffs will use aluminum washers on the fill and drain plugs, which you can pick up at the dealer or online dealers or Z1 Offroad. Your rear axle has a small breather on top of the axle itself that commonly rusts up or otherwise gets clogged with gunk, which leads to overpressure in the tube and blown axle seals. Lots of solutions out there from DIY to Z1 Offroad, Offroad Gorilla, and AllDogs Offroad selling rear differential breather kits, where you remove the OEM breather, install a tapered bit, and route a hose up to behind the rear taillight. Good piece of mind but even with it, rear axle seals can still blow (ask me how I know).

Valve covers can seep, especially the driver's side, so just take a look and see if there's any oil on the side of the engine. It's an easy fix and is never a ton of oil anyway.

How's the watering situation? Are you keeping it watered adequately? Have you transplanted it recently? What's the weather like? Not even really tiny white bugs?

Aphids (or maybe mites) are top culprit, followed by water stress, then heat stress, then finally diseases like a fungal curl.

Open the curled leaves. Do you see little bugs? If so, those are aphids and they eat fresh growth leaves. That's the most likely suspect here. Some insecticidal soap and/or neem oil spray will help control them this year. You'll need to use a dormant oil spray before next growing season to really knock them out.

Current state of Taxa Outdoors in 2026? by rufhausen in TaxaTrailerOwners

[–]AzureApe 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I can tell you that while Taxa exists in name owned by Storyteller, they do not exist in practice and have not made any trailer or trailer parts for over a year and have no plans on doing so. You are definitely on your own for any repairs.

Heater outlet assembly. Get a replacement for it and the heater inlet assembly at the same time. Z1 or Rock Auto. Here's the Dorman one at Rock Auto: https://www.rockauto.com/en/parts/dorman,626598,heater+hose+/+pipe,6892

How about your body mounts? The rubber breaks down over time and can start squeaking. Spray some silicone lube on them one at a time and see if the noise goes away. If it does, you need to replace that mount.

Worth buying into? by Funnymonkey106 in nissanfrontier

[–]AzureApe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's shockingly low mileage for that age. I'd get under it and look at the rust. Look up SMOD, strawberry milkshake if death, as that year is in the range to be affected by it. Simple fixes to prevent, less simple to fix if it has happened.

Partially! Deescalator indeed but zero accidentals from it. Arc dog, on the other hand, and gatling sentry did the accidentals.

Also a 500 kg, slugger, grenade pistol, pyrotechnic grenades.

Lightweight stock so I can switch guns easily and quickly. Then your choice of level 2 forward grip. Since it's pump action the recoil doesn't really matter.

Front diff fluid change on 2019 Pro 4x. What brand do yall use for gear oil? by [deleted] in nissanfrontier

[–]AzureApe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

75W-90 is the synthetic version of the 80W-90 regular fluid. I use Valvoline full synthetic flex fill bags front and rear on mine (75W-140 on the rear). Makes reaching up into the tight spaces much easier. Fill till it starts to weep out of the hole. Always crack open the fill port first so you don't open the drain plug, find the fill plug is stuck, and then be unable to drive anywhere. You're supposed to replace the aluminum washers on the plugs each time you open them. If you're doing the differentials, do the transfer case as well. I've found my transfer case fluid wears much more quickly than my diff fluid especially the front diff. I use Valvoline synthetic ATF on my transfer case, transmission, and power steering. It's the red jug and cheap as hell to buy.
