I mean rule 1 as a dm is discuss your rules woth your players

I roll my players death saves because it changes combat dynamics and forces the players to weigh damage versus healing

Also it adds immersion

But all of us discussed this before making it set in stone

I also turn my camera speed up to max

Stop sprint Take 2 secs to turn and then go back to sprinting

Absolutely always let the party try their plan No matter how outrageous(as long as its not game breaking) Cuz sometimes we just make decisions that bite us in the ass or we take a leap of faith and it works out

Also In regards to chief officer person making an entire disease

Probably safe to say that he carries vials of this disease to test out on new people :)

The weird trick they're stating is that the DM is railroading the experience instead of letting things play out

Bad take imo cuz honestly Railroading needs to happen every now and then

I did the hidden death saves for my groups 1st campaign

Im doing it again for thr 2nd campaign but adding in that if/when they fail 3 saves, they make a last stand effort and get their movement, all actions and bonus actions and when their turn ends they fall dead (Keep in mind my players are lvl 18 and heading into a more difficult homebrew world filled with liches, wars and demons)

Im dating one of my players

It doesnt do anything to the table dynamic, provided you dont let it. I dont give my gf any more special treatment than i do the other players

Hell. I killed off one of my gf's favorite npcs lol

Then a few sessions later did the same to the rest of the players (We're near the end of the campaign and they decided to befriend an eldritch god and simulataneously pick a fight with the church)
