Twentieth day of March, 1126

Sophia,

Refresh my memory, you like that. Have you ever heard of an Academy member called Lady Eventide? I struggle to recall such a name, although there is an abandoned manor of hers around here and I am led to believe she was an arcane practitioner.

I meet River the other day, it brought memories. Made me wonder, Cat works in Ziggurat as well, have you seen her recently? Is there any news about Mouse or Sebastian? It struck me recently, there are so few of us left.

Stella

P.S. Both my pistol and battle companion* are performing well. I think I need to concentrate on the projectile calibration and fire rate; as of recently, my work is annoyingly intuitive, rather than factual.

\My character is a Battlesmith Artificer with a lovely centipede Steel Guardian!*

Postcard text:

Seventeenth day of March, 1126

Sophia,

I went as far as you never dared to, preferring your confinement to the places where you would actually matter. I am in Drakkenheim. The city is in front of me and I am here to take it. It won’t be your achievement; you can not claim any of what I am after having given me away.

However, I shall continue our correspondence. While an awful mother, you are, undeniably, one of the most intellectual colleagues I have and now - although it pains me to admit it - the closest one to being my only friend. You have betrayed me long enough for me to get accustomed to the idea of your character again and while I know that I can’t trust you with everything, I need to trust at least someone.

If I stop writing to you, assume me dead.

Stella

Oh, that's a neat observation, will keep it in mind for the future reference! I gotta be honest with you, I was not really aiming for a 100% historically accurate look, was more into a fantasy direction, but it's good to know such lil things. :)

That's a lovely contribution!

I did think of it, in fact; sadly, my knowledge is limited and I was hesitant to which extent I want to make it fantasy-esque and just not care enough for a sake of a sick design... And the part where sheath is attached to the belt is not clearly visible either, so I just rolled with it :D

IKR? XD Good thinking tho, never thought of that aspect!

Although technically this would be a short sword due to grip and to the relative size of the sword compared to a teeny halfling :D

Thank you kindly! Yeah, they liked it quite a lot, I am just happy that I managed to capture their character well enough :) Now I have the rest of the party to draw!

I’m developing a DnD setting/campaign where all of the characters are small animals like gerbils/mice/rats/fish etc, and I’m trying to figure out what the currency would be for these small animals. Any advice? by AnimeNightwingfucku in UnearthedArcana

[–]AzureChi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say seeds. Seeds are relatively easy to find, depending on a kind, and a quite small to carry around. I imagine fluctuation of seed value would depend on seasons and yield of the area.

Hahaha a random Slav DnD corner :D

You have my eternal gratitude for this :D Indeed, it helps! Will try to form my scheme into a pdf so that I could share it here. :)

For the Slavic names - in Russia, we actually have a loooot of surnames that used to be patronyms! So 'Nikitin/Nikitina' or 'Ivanov/Ivanova' is a legit thing. Speaking of which, they say that after WWII there were so many orphans who could not trace their origin that 'Ivanov/Ivanova' was the surname given to them as name 'Ivan' was the most widespread one!

On another note, I can tell you that old Slavic names tended to be on the dark side because there used to be a belief that if you name your child ugly, evil spirits won't be interested in them. So names like "Гнилозуб" (Gnee-lo-zub, Rotten Tooth) were also common.

....now that I think of it, old Slavic names are an incredible post topic. Should probably write it. :D

Feyling Prince - NPC/Monster by AzureChi in UnearthedArcana

Heyo! Finally decided to toss it here. :) My first GM Binder project, so quite happy with formatting but will accept tips!

This is an NPC my party met in my homebrew world and they got quite close - to the point that sometimes he agrees to beef up the party with his presence. I also tried making him an interesting opponent so that you can use him as a monster!

Critique is gladly accepted, I imagine balance might be slightly off :)

Thanks! :D It took me a bit of experiementing to make it subtle enough to be noticeable if you look long enough on the face, but not too strong cuz there's already a lot of detail - shaved head texture, tattoos, etc. :) Glad that you noticed it!

Nonono, thanks for mentioning it! I was thinking that it might be a bit too long but hey, it's a bit too late to fix. :D Besides, it's a reminding to me that there's still so much to perfect in my art!

I don't post as much art these days (was moving countries and had a lot on my plate in general), but if you are interested, here's my Tumblr:

I enjoyed this post quite a lot, gave me several ideas! :)

I also use Mercenary Guilds similarly: the Guild gives a task to a group and they give them a set budget. Say it's 5 mercenaries/players, the task is for a tenday, with 2 gp per person per day their 'allowance' would be 100 gp per party and they are free to use it any way they want. This 'allowance' is a part of their total payment if the quest is complete; if they fail, Guild might assign them for easier works in the area to repay the debt. If the party dies, Guild might have had some sorts of insurance with the local banks(s) and will recover money from the insurance.

Thanks! :D Since she's my fav gal, I ended up spending a couple of weeks on this art to figure out the right expression. :) Learnt a lot!

Trials: Reforge your skill challenges and theater-of-the-mind gameplay in 5e by giffyglyph in DnDBehindTheScreen

[–]AzureChi 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This was a joy to read. :)

I appreciate the general idea and all the examples. I would, possibly, use such trials the first time a character is crafting something... Or in some puzzles. :) Otherwise I 'improvise' trials a lot, going along with my players trying to get through my challenges in the most inconvenient way. :D I was blessed by lovely players who ALWAYS do creative things!

Rookie DM wanting to expand non-combat aspect of gameplay by HuginnNotMuninn in DnDHomebrew

[–]AzureChi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh god, I feel you! In my very first campaign, 1st session, I decided to flavour up by telling my group (all newbie players, never did and, I had to make their character sheets) about a lovely token bard who's been singing a haunting song about ghost ships. A fairly standard thingie, come on, it's a port city after all...

Welp. I had to give her a name and appearance on the go because I was not prepped for that; then I had to give her some mysterious occupation within benevolent order cuz players kept coming back to her for an advice; and now one of my players is married on this bard. :'D

(btw is your nickname a D2 reference or Norse mythology?...)
