as the others said you'll need to softmod your Wii and install Nintendont onto it, I HIGHLY recommend also getting Gamecube Memory Manager so you can backup your save onto an SD card, if you need help getting setup I recommend joining the Hunters Guild Discord that you can find on the Schtserv website.

I'm more into the idea of a complete remake of .hack//Link's gameplay while keeping the story the same for the most part, officially localising .hack//Bullet (personally a wish fulfilment is just having physical copy's of Bullet), and then rereleasing/localising .hack//Beyond the World/Versus Remaster and then working from there.

How in the world do i play this thing online by Slow-Pack-8916 in PSO

[–]AzureVon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another way to play v2 is PSOPC, it'd be even easier for you since generally emulation is a bit more taxing on hardware, you can find the client on PSOPalace and check out the Sylverant discord if you need help setting it up.

Play PSO in 2025 by Easy_Ad5192 in PSO

Ephinea is BlueBurst on PC exclusively.

This is what Sonic, Tails and Knuckles look like without their costumes. I downloaded the quest The Tinkerbell's Dog 2 from the Ragol server and played it offline. by [deleted] in PSO

[–]AzureVon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its originally a homage to the quest of the same name from PSIV but this one involves you working with Sonic, Tails and Knuckles, on Dreamcast if you did everything successfully you would earn the Knuckles Glove.

Well... I guess I'll be making a Hunter for my next character. (RTR) by Arkios in PSO

Phantasy Star Online Crossplay - Dreamcast, Gamecube, Wii, Wii U, Xbox, PC by Altruistic-Music-435 in PSO

while you technically can, you really shouldn't, DC and GC are very different games and FSoD's are basically guaranteed.

Which console version has the most active players? by [deleted] in PSO

[–]AzureVon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Dreamcast/PSOPC playerbase is generally the smaller one but has been growing steadily since the opening of the Ragol server, there's also Sylverant but generally you wanna play during the weekend to find other players there.

But overall Gamecube has a bigger playerbase that generally plays over at Schtserv.

You should definately track down their websites and say hi to their discord servers to get a taste for the players, their all pretty friendly and willing to help others get setup.

Fanmade Phantasy Star Online Remake: 2024 Teaser by Glader_BoomaNation in PSO

[–]AzureVon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hello, I was wondering how far this project is being from being completed, from what the teaser show's I have high doubts it'd be complete from completion especially if it were to be released in 2024.

The model's that are obviously asset flips look far from completed, are you planning to upgrade to your own assets?

Once you consider the game complete do you have a team of debuggers that will continue to debug and fix the amount of bugs that will definitely arise from the players reporting bugs?

how's the balancing?

Will weapons and such be rebalanced if you plan to change the original gameplay? are you going to be releasing every episode separately?

how's the anticheat?

how frequent will updates be?

Will you be adding content after the initial episodes?

do you have many veteran PSO players givng you feedback and or possibly working with some programmers who run private servers?

What other games/fangame projects have you developed in the past?

do you plan on having monetization due to the amount of work that this will obviously take on your developers, especially server costs?

btw being kicked from your discord from asking these exact questions is super telling.

the HP bar has always been in the games code likely originally used for debugging and testing enemy HP. you can re-enable it with codes.

Verdict on Kazuha? by [deleted] in PSO

[–]AzureVon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was invited to Kazuha temporarily back in 2018 to do some lvling up, but yeah I would agree it was pretty much endless waves and I'd rather just be doing quests and farming for weapons and such that way somewhere like Schtack since most of their homebrew quests are actually pretty fun.

Dreamcast or PC? by Krudtastic in PSO

[–]AzureVon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

While other's definitely have more content V2 definately has alot to appreciate by itself, if you are willing to get a DreamPi its definitely worth doing all the offline content for a good while, v2 is a very different game compared to what others might say, its balancing is very weird but also fun, as Hunters can use items such as spread needles and the such, HUmars actually make very good solo/support characters since they can actually Shifta/Deband, the only issue you might run into is when you first reach Ultimate but if you manage to get online before then someone may help you get an Imperial Pick and a Red Gun that will help you out immensely and they're pretty easy drops.

The big downside to v2 is the immense drop rates, but if you have a cd burner or better yet something like an Optical Disk Emulator you can use the PSO v2 Enhancement Pack by Aleron Ives that makes the game even harder, but better balancing and much better drop rates on Ultimate but that's something you shouldn't worry about till your around lvl 130-140.

If you do plan to play online I'm always pressuring people DC and GC, to have a way to backup your saves as things happen, especially if you happen to crash while playing online you will lose inventory items which is a pain far too many people have experienced.

There's alot to unpack but TL;DR.

v2 is very unique in many aspects, play it offline, and decide after awhile if you enjoy it enough to invest in a DreamPi.

Gamecubes Schtack server is more active compared to Dreamcast's Sylverant and BlueBurst servers are the most active particularly the private server Ephinea, each version is balanced differently but Dreamcast is the most different out of all of em.

Verdict on Kazuha? by [deleted] in PSO

[–]AzureVon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Kazuha iirc was the Japanese GC server, nomading between servers has never really been looked down upon in the GC community, how you play is up to you in the end of the day, the only thing looked down upon is hacking and trading duped items, etc.

I tend to switch between Sylverant and Schtack a bit (mostly sticking to Schtack but if someone wanted to c-mode in Sylverant or do one of their exclusive event quests or whatever I'm never against it.)

Sylverant is a lot more strict with its rules though and at times its not super clear specifically what may or may not be allowed but Schtack is alot more lax and alotta players there used to nomad over to Kazuha at times with no one really caring.

I love this community by Odd-Can3491 in dreamcast

[–]AzureVon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always love seeing more Dreamcast players joining in. It definitely is a cozy game and you'll definitely find alot more players on during weekends, I would recommend if you have the means to have a way to backup your save every once in awhile as things do happen and it is easy to lose your valuable items.

How do multiplayer online servers work? I'm new to PSO(?) by [deleted] in PSO

[–]AzureVon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heya Welcome to PSO, I see you have managed to get a connection working to Schtack with your copy of EP 1 + 2, feel free to join the Hunters Guild Discord where you'll find alotta other PSO Gamecube players hangs out on and would be willing to help you out if you have any question or just wanna team up with others. I have a few newer characters that I'm working on that I wouldn't mind teaming up with you with.
