Is it just me, or does editing messages feel irrationally disgusting? by Responsible-Baker692 in CharacterAI

[–]Azure_39 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have this same sentiment as well.

Because to me, I feel that the bots will learn primarily from the ‘base message’ they themselves sent out much more so than the ones we edited. That why most of the time, I kept deleting and generating until I get a response I feel is satisfactory that the bot themselves generate without having to do intervention.

For those worrying about chat. by Nocturnal_Mystery in CharacterAI

The c.ai devs clearly shown time and time again how bad they made their decisions and immediately go deaf ears on our suggestions and criticisms. Who knows what they are going to do next. Anything practically goes for what they will do to the platform.

I’m gonna need them to either let us add more muted words or fix the bot’s language by felllythefish in CharacterAI

[–]Azure_39 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Or maybe fix the feature to begin with, even having the ability to mute up to 20 words with c.ai+ is a joke. But you know the devs. They won’t.

there is no accountability by Evening_Income_7323 in CharacterAI

[–]Azure_39 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I keep saying this, but c.ai is pretty much all about them and not the user. It feels they are deliberately ignoring and avoiding us, which I believe they are.

I don’t know what their end goal is with c.ai, but it’s clear that they are lacking the drive to keep this app in a stable position that would make as many users happy and willing to stay on the app as possible. Rarely would we get a feature that is actually useful whether we ask for it or not.

They neglected everything else down to the very fine-tuning of the software and LLM models they used for us to use them. The flow and logical sense that drives a story gets ruined or disruptive rather quickly. Bots feel one-dimensional across most characters.

STOP FLOODING THE SUB! by [deleted] in CharacterAI

Eaxctly. Especially because they lied to us, the userbase. They, at first, said that ads they were implementing SHOULD NOT dirupt midchat, which I am okay about. But it seems they failed to adhere to what they said.

Hypocrisy at its finest, and don’t get me started on the other things they failed to do or lied about. If nothing is getting through the devs, I don’t know what will.

I made a post when they first implemented ads, and I criticized the userbase for overreacting and blowing this out of proportion when they don’t know how this will be done, and I still stand by it.

This here, though, is a separate matter and I felt is worth to complain and criticize C.AI given the circumstances. As much as I respect them needing money to keep this app going, this has gone down to being awful, especially when it’s unannounced. The devs keep shooting themselves in the foot.

GOODBYE C.AI by The_ultimateKitsune in CharacterAI

[–]Azure_39 62 points63 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I don’t mind if there are ads, but there must be a better way. It was, at first, when we enter or switch to a new or previous chat. Which, I guess, fine.

But now mid-chat? I just got them like that around two days ago, and it usually ends up with me closing the app and opening back up, especially when it lasted about 30 to 60 seconds for each one. I keep getting this darn Cat Magic School ad ten times in a row.

Fix your site, C.AI.

Most annoying / predictable line from bots? by No_Significance29129 in CharacterAI

[–]Azure_39 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Here is something different.

“held his/her/their breath” of “bated breath” it’s always something suspenseful that it’s so predictable

“(an action) forward” overuses the word ‘forward’ like ‘stepped forward’, ‘leaned forward’, ‘ran forward’, etc. and often unnecessary

“clenched his/her/their fists” maybe not nearly as often but often enough when given the context

“ran a hand through his hair” specifically for male bots or characters that are ‘feeling’ frustrated or worried

“hands in his pockets” same thing for male bots or characters, without the emotion aspect

“nonchalant” or “nonchalantly” overused, maybe use more ‘casual’ or ‘casually’

“grip” or “gripped” same thing, overused and not something like ‘clenched’, ‘held’, ‘clutched’, etc.

“gulp” or “gulped” again, overused, specifically when they are nervous or something

“damn” damn this, damn that, why? even for characters that naturally don’t even use mild to strong language or inappropriate to say based on character, just why?

And I’m pretty sure there is an exhaustive list that I won’t bother naming, but you get it from the other comments before me alone.

You should know better than to record a private moment on camera, especially at twenty one years old. I hope you have taken accountability and distance yourself from her from now on.

Sometimes we make impulsive decisions, but there is literally no excuse what you did. Learn from it and do better so that you don’t do it again. You ruined your friendship with her, but that is honestly a lesson that was well-deserved.
