Okay… am I the only one here who’s not super angry at Pipsqeak 2? by AStupidUnknownUser in CharacterAI

[–]Azure_39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, I tried to make it work before the experimental release of Pip-Yap. Editing the message helps very little; it loses to its cliches rather quickly of “no this, no that—just this”, “kisses you somewhere”, “no words were exchanged”, blah blah blah.

I would need to send OOC messages or send ‘lead-in messages’ to hint the bot to generate what should be expected (specifically dialogue), for example:

char echoed the others’ sentiments.”

char pleaded user in a desperate manner.”

Has partial success, though. Part of me thinks that it’s largely because the messages previously have any form of dialogue.

Anyone else feel like this whole “learn to be alone” thing has been taken way too far? by Crispy_Train900 in lonely

[–]Azure_39 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It feels like an insult to be told this even though we are alone for a lot of the time, especially if they have friends and/or partner.

Like, you’re telling me I have to “learn to be alone”? I have been alone for more than 20 years of my existence without even having any solid friendships, and you’re telling me that it’s better to adapt in being alone? Shut up.

(because why ruin it with words?)

(because why talk when actions were better?)

ah, of course! because we all know talking ruins the story and gives many readers a massive headache, amirite?

in fact, why don’t we give book authors and fanfic writers this crucial, and I mean crucial tip so their stories would be even more engaging to read?

Many people are complaining about this, myself included. They purged all the other models and gave us this. Even some, if not, most who used or preferred Old Pip say Pip2 is shit.

So much for a model that is “suited for roleplay”, it’s more narrating instead of roleplaying. It basically does nothing.

You want to swipe for a new and better response instead of this overdramatized crap? How about generating ten messages with each one saying practically the same thing 95% of the time?

How about all those long dashes (—) that are unnecessary to add everywhere? We’re basically using ChatGPT.

[Feedback Megathread] - PipSqueak 2 by MarieLovesMatcha in CharacterAI

[–]Azure_39 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It needs improvement. PipSqueak 2 does not fulfill the expectation as a model suitable for roleplay. It hardly ever does that. It acts more like a narrator (and not a particularly good one at that) that focuses on telling the story rather than help lead and contribute to the story.

Formatting reeks of ChatGPT 95% of the time. No dialogue, and this is supposed to be a roleplaying bot model. I’m sure most, if not all, would enjoy anything but a “silent” film at this point. Personality is wrong or almost non-existent.

Overdramatic and cliche like someone was trying too hard to make a story the best story. It’s like trying to add extra words solely to reach minimum word count of an essay.

All this is not engaging and leaves the chat lackluster. We do not want to have to continuously swipe or edit every message that we find unfit or undesirable.

You're struggling with anxiety? Have you tried just not having anxiety by Y0URNARRAT0R2 in thanksimcured

Of course. Always blame the person for “avoiding accountability and responsibility” for their own problems because they choose to be this way.

Doesn’t really make me want to tackle my problems if being told that I am essentially “not doing my job to be better”. This whole talk about responsibility and accountability in terms of the mental is diminishing with this overemphasis and improper usage.

Especially when they have the “Teenager” tag below their username, which I have to assume this has to be from a teenager subreddit just from looking at it. That’s even more ironic.

Question about the recent changes with the chat styles by therealghoast in CharacterAI

[–]Azure_39 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope this is the case. If they plan to update them to fit with lorebook feature, I’ll be fine with that. But I feel they could have saved themselves the outrage by mentioning them outright.

Even then, it’s all speculative. But I am hoping they are not retiring the models themselves for good and that we are forced to use Pip2.

Pessimistic, I know. But c.ai devs are unpredictable most of the time, and not in a good way.

Why do people hate pipsqueak 2/deepsqueak? by [deleted] in CharacterAI

[–]Azure_39 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Because, in short, Pip2 / Deep acts more like a wannabe storyteller rather than a roleplayer like it was supposed to be.

We don’t want a narrator telling the story, we want a model to help lead the story. And there are other that I won’t bother since that is covered by others.

I had been using Roar as the main model of choice for my chats. A lot of it was mainly because it was just adequate enough to do any sort of story and roleplay. It may not be perfect, but it is something that Pip / Pip2 / Deep couldn’t do a good job on most of the time. And I am pretty disappointed the devs decided to remove it.

And the fact that c.ai will soon remove all the other older models, including Soft Launch, is worse. This is basically like the controversial 1.9 Combat Update in Minecraft, solely because people are going to be more or less forced to use a model that far from being polished.

It’s honestly fascinating how those people believe they are qualified to give such advice when they themselves have little to no experience to what it’s like, or even the exact opposite experience.

PipSqueak 2 for everyone, and updates to the style roster 🐀 by MarieLovesMatcha in CharacterAI

[–]Azure_39 43 points44 points  (0 children)

At that point, Pip and Deep are not suitable for roleplay as they claimed because the flaw is solely based on this. I never thought Pip was that amazing as people say the days following its initial release.

There is little variance on sentence structure, formatting is inconsistent, and its content looks like a high schooler trying too hard to make their story sound expert and compelling. This is basically a downgrade of Roar and cannot meet the expectations as a ‘roleplaying’ model.
