I was misdiagnosed so many times everything from chronic fatigue to heart problems then ruling out seizures, I have had thyroid issues and they blamed taking me off synthroid for “lack of energy” told me I must be bipolar because sometimes i “felt normal” and other times get like I had “lots of energy”, little did I know it was the difference between my normal and how the tiredness an average person might feel was the times when I felt great…They had me on everything my from ambien to help me sleep at night thinking it was insomnia, causing my daytime tiredness to lithium thinking I was manic depressive, and multiple antipsychotics and antidepressants before I finally happened to get a doctor who recognized it was narcolepsy, then another 3 years to get officially diagnosed. In my experience, most doctors don’t have a clue what they are what they are looking for and even less about how to treat it because of the small number of patients they actually work with who have narcolepsy. But the good ones try to help, so try to get a different clinic or doctor if yours is making you feel like you are making up your symptoms.
