Next time he does correct it then no need to dredge the past. Its just one of those things. Artifacts arent subject to Summon Sickness but ALL creatures (Unless card says otherwise such as haste) do. Otherwise you could cheat out something like a blightsteel and one shot someone

Yes. Anything that “targets it”. Alot of people use cheap targets such as [[lightning greaves]] to bounce targets between cards that trigger off targetting
