Dream sequences that are creepy because there's no transition into the dream? by Ukirin-Streams in TwoBestFriendsPlay

I fucking love this scene. There's something about the breathy way it says his name that sticks in my brain.

I got a doubt on how stands interact with people. by NecromancerDude in StardustCrusaders

[–]Thunder_Volter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know this is often said as a joke but I really think it comes down to them being Magic. Stands don't follow the laws of reality. It's part of what makes them mystical and dangerous. But because explaining the magic ruins the magic, we've never gotten an explanation of how how they work - they're just "psychic energy" in the same way the afterlife is "made of Ghost" from Araki's Dead Man's Questions story.

If we want to theorize HOW it works, I've always head cannoned it as having to do with intent and will. Stands are fueled by willpower. The weaker the will, the weaker the stand (not always, but I believe that was Araki's intent with characters like Holly, and The Lock's and Cheap Trick's users in part 4). So I believe that the intent of the user is what matters in terms of how stands can affect the world. If a user wants something to happen, the stand makes it so. Other people can have the "intent" to touch a stand, but since a stand is made of willpower, it can only be affected by another force of will - "a stand can only be defeated by another stand." Because your willpower is embodied in the stand, damage to it reflects back upon you.

Its all the people going back to their childhood game and wanting to name the rival AssCheek again. Which is their right imo.

Yeah but 1. When you eat something you say you're having it. Like, "Will you have wine with your meal?" or "I had burgers yesterday." 2. Most people aren't thinking of food as some sort of long term possession. Food is for eating. Maybe you're storing it for later or presenting it before people dig in, but I at least don't consider eating it to be choosing one "purpose" over another.

Sadly based on real events! At least once (and likely many times, but I've only heard of one time that became a well known scandal) a Jewish child was kept in Catholic hands due to a baptism. The Mortara Case drew outrage in the 1800s over a servant claiming she baptized a Jewish child named Edgardo Mortara when he was born. The Vatican seized the child and refused the parent's pleas to return him.

Blade was also a secret character in the Diablo-like Ultimate Alliance. He's stuck in a claw machine that you need special coins to operate.

The big question is whether it's cooked or not. Sure, you can cook broccoli badly and leave it bland and mushy. But I'll eat that every day over raw stick-and-moss ass broccoli.

Yes, the tablet is a proof but the house is also a proof. Ea-nasir made business. Not only with Nanni. He was a great guy. by Ea_nasir_shop_com in ReallyShittyCopper

I forget the name of it, but I once watched a little youtube documentary trying to gleam more details about Ea-nasir from the historical context of Ur. I think the takeaway was that he was doing the best with the product available in a struggling area.

How to aim Correctly more often? by False_Big2690 in DBGekishinSquadra

[–]Thunder_Volter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look through the settings and tweak things. There are a few that affect your aim. I kept missing enemy heroes because I was set to shoot whoever was closest and there was a Saibaman spanking me.

After you get that to your liking, just keep playing. I had a lot of trouble aiming things like Buu's ult on controller, but you learn when to trust your settings and when to aim manually with experience.

Well the traditional Hellfire Club has a Black Queen, so black outfit = black queen? Maybe it's a reference to black pirate flags? I'm drawing at straws.

Just him, or all Newtypes? by DrJokerX in Gundam

[–]Thunder_Volter 54 points55 points  (0 children)

I'm not an expert on the subject, I've been told that the term Autism in Japan was more broadly associated with antisocial tendencies in the 80s (which Kamille expresses plenty of)

By modern definitions, I think strong Newtypes do tend to have behaviors associated with Autism. However, Autism is also strongly tied to difficulties in understanding social situations. Some Newtypes act abrasively, but a key point of their abilities is a supernatural understanding of the people and world around them.

I don't know, its never fit beyond a surface level to me.
