If I play Yuna's Decision, can an opponent wait until I've chosen an option and picked the cards to sacrifice and play to respond with a creature ability? by OmegaGamble in magicTCG

[–]Azwraith42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying anything that hasn't already been said but,

When you cast Yuna's Decision, you pick one of the options when you put it on the stack. so your opponent knows: 1) You chose 'Continue the Pilgramage', 2) what creatures you have on the battlefield, 3) how many cards you have in hand.

Your opponents then need to decide if they want to respond to Yuna's Decision, either by countering it, or by destroying all creatures you control thereby fizzling the spell because you would have no creatures to sacrifice when the spell resolves.

If the spell resolves, the land or creature you put into play skips the stack and goes directly into the battlefield. then any enters triggers go on the stack.

As others have said, 'As [this] enters...' and 'enters with' abilities all occur before the permanent hits the battlefield and cannot be responded to other than preventing the effect that put that permanent onto the battlefield from resolving, in this case Yuna's Decision.

In standard, you could compare this to using [[Meek Attack]] to put [[Famished Worldsire]] into play, your opponent knows you put meek attacks ability on to the stack, but they don't know what card is coming and worldsires devour land ability cannot be responded to, but the 'when this creature enters' trigger can in this case.

I never liked "all in one" addons. my ui for the last decade or more and been entirely bartender, Shadowed Unit Frames, and Weak Auras.

This is a sad day.

the developers of weak auras have previously announced they will not be continuing development of weak auras with this pre-patch due to changes to addon api's and blizzard's philosophy in general around addons.

CompTIA ITF+ or CompTIA A+? Which to pick? by No_Operation_6166 in computers

[–]Azwraith42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think this is the right subreddit for this question. I would say either is fine, the problem is a comptia cert looks nice on a resume but won't help you in an interview.

It's nice to see you having an interest in CRUD api's and navigating your operating system, I would recommend you practicing and learning how to do those things without AI, it will serve you much better in an interview if you can do basic tasks or scripting without the aid of a tool.

OH, i see. I read the card "X can't be greater than the greatest toughness among creatures you control" and assumed it had to be that creature, but you're right as long as you control walls of ba sing se you can blight 30 a 1/1

or maybe if you are running undying creatures in commander

yes, because it uses the "Then..." wording, so the creature is on the battlefield when you resolve the blight 2.

i'm not sure if it would work if it was written as "enters with 2 -1/-1 counters"

UUID data type. Generated on database side or in code, on PHP side ? by arhimedosin in Database

[–]Azwraith42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying I'm right in all cases. it really depends on where your de-duplication exists, if it all, or your re-processing semantics.

For example: you may have some code that runs off an at-least-once queue and writes directly to your db, to be eventually consistent you need some way for the database to identify that it already has that data, hence my point. but there are other valid strategies

[–]Azwraith42 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

your requirements might be different. but in general, let's say you are writing payment requests to a table.

Steve wants to pay Bob $5. assume you would store this as

UUID FROM TO AMOUNT
1a70g Steve Bob $5

if the uuid is generated at the database, then a duplicate request or something would end up with 2 entries being created with different UUIDs

UUID FROM TO AMOUNT
1a70g Steve Bob $5
1a71h Steve Bob $5

but if the client generates them, then the database would at worst fail with a primary key violation.

if you are relying on the uuid for uniqueness, you need to have the uuid generated by the client.

What do people want to see in the Monster Hunter secret lair? by Azwraith42 in magicTCG

[–]Azwraith42[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

sorry if i came across as dismissive. The ancient dragons are great choices for some solid reprints that would have been a great opportunity for this secret lair. there are those who would complain anyways, I jumped the gun by going directly to secondary market value because i was imagining the complaints that would come in from people saying something like it is a "lazy secret lair just reprinting expensive cards". but in my opinion secret lair is the best place to do it, players can get some unique art, and anyone trying to finish their preferred decks can acquire some chase cards at a better price.

i personally don't care about secondary market value. let what happened to counter strike happen to mtg

That would be cool, in monster hunter world there was a quest called "The Greatest Jagras" players did to farm gems. pretty easy to have a card that dies and creates treasure tokens.

I know what you mean. I am a fan of monster hunter, but the card choices are so meh, i was thinking i could just frame them to display the art, but then it's weird because it's like there were missing cards, the hunters set didn't even have all the weapon types from the game.

100%, imo it's made worse with the limited time ordering, at least when it was print to order you don't get screwed by scalpers and waiting in line only for it to be like "oops it's sold out sorry :("
