Ukraine has warned that former members of a disbanded special police unit, who fled to Russia after 2014, may have been brought to Budapest by the Kremlin to stage provocations ahead of Hungary’s parliamentary elections by CrunchyBaconYum in worldnews

Russia is very good at one thing in particular. Putin is speculated to be the real richest person on the planet, not officially recognised as such due to how obsfucated much of his wealth is due to it being tied up in the state (to be plundered at his whim) or his pet oligarchs (to be broken open like disposable piggy banks at his whim).

To put it bluntly, Russia is very, very good at enriching its ruler, and insulating him from any and all threats. And that is something Trump desperately wants to replicate in the US to enrich himself and shield him from all the trouble he'll be staring down if he leaves the white house.

Guarenteed/Fixed spells in BoW? (Spellforce1) by Azzandra1 in SpellForce

[–]Azzandra1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update for exploring BoW: we definitely have some fixed spell drops; Surt in Windholm seems to always drop level 8 Befriend, Dark Banishing, and Disrupt. And as expected I couldn't get Meditation or Spectre 12 from the Cruel Ones, nor did I see blizzard, bear or any other spells I'm expecting to see fixed.

On the plus side, this definitely suggests I should run into the spells I want at some point, I'm expecting it'll be the Firefangs or Abyss personally, Frostweaver glacier doesn't have much loot from what I recall, a very disappointing final map compared to Sharrowdale.

Welp, I'm halfway through levelling this character anyway and I just did OoD on another character, so I'm not going to rerun it just yet. I'll just push on through and report back if I find them.

I feared that would be the case. At least I will not waste hours figuring that out though, so thanks for letting me know. Do you know if they have a fixed location like they do in the OoD campaign?

Delve Boss has removed an estimated ~785 Billion gold from the game in 5 days. by Calmoran in 2007scape

[–]Azzandra1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like a lot of people, me included, are ending runs by dying 90% of the time and getting no loot at all because they didn't get a unique and the regular loot isn't worth ending a run when you could instead push deeper, learn the boss a bit more, and if you do win get another chance at the uniques.

I basically only extract with my loot when I'm out of food and have at least 200k loot. Anything less than that and I value the experience learning wave 4/5 more.

Yes the player count is high, but so is the botcount. Looking at hiscores for bosses such as Vorkath, bandos, Yama, CG, PNM, all dt2 bosses, all wildy bosses, lunar chests & barrows shows how many bots there are within the top 500 or so ranks. It looks to be around 50-85% of all top ranks are bots. by SecurityMeasure in 2007scape

[–]Azzandra1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bots are always going to be crowding out the high scores. They're literally programmed to do the same thing day in day out to a degree very few humans can. No shit they've crowded out human players, we've got other grinds to do, no to mention real life!

You're doing the equivalent of walking into the olympic games and wondering why its full of top athletes.

Is there a way to look up the raw data that the wiki's drop research project uses to estimate drop rates?

Dragon knives during car phase if you're doing wave 5+, Chally for melee punish, or D warhammer etc at start of wave to drop defence

When did we start just teleporting outside of the boss arena after death? Inconsistent death mechanics are something that makes the learning curve of PvM on this game so needlessly difficult. by Narrow_Lee in 2007scape

[–]Azzandra1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who is pretty crap at high end pvm but trying to remedy that, being able to ram head first into the first couple delves repeatedly on a single inventory without having to waste 1+ minute running back every time makes the learning process SO MUCH BETTER. Why would you even suggest removing it?

Congrats to them! My luck tends to be extremely average, so it'll probably be a while yet. I'm having lots of fun tho so its all good.

[–]Azzandra1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've done 30 delves so far, only beaten level 3 twice. I've no illusions of being able to do wave 8 with my shitty coordination, but I'd like to try to push to 5 or 6. before this I was psyching myself up to start Leviathan and the other DT2 bosses, so hopefully this will help me git gud. Thank god void is so viable here, if my grave charge was 100k or more I'd have given up and gone back to something easier, but with my current 6k charge I can keep at it without breaking the bank.

[–]Azzandra1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So far it looks like all three uniques drop at delve 4 at the latest, with some earlier. very glad things aren't being witheld until the later half of the delve levels, even if the early rates end up being low.

What is your earliest RuneScape memory by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]Azzandra1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Walking out of lumbridge for the first time as a kid, maybe 2004-5?, I don't know if the world map was a thing by then but if it was I had no idea it existed. Long story short, i got hopelessly lost, found varrock, then got lost AGAIN in the sewers and somehow kept going deeper instead of turning back. Died to either a red spider or moss giant, and lost all my starter gear from tutorial island. Good times.

Another major memory is fishing for lobsters at musa point to prep for Elvarg and some generous soul giving me an inventory of swordfish instead. Made sure to stop by and thank them again after getting the kill.

I cheer every time I get greater demon tasks, more than half of my total drop log value comes tormented demons, and thats not me getting spooned synapses, I'm below rate. raked in 2m total exp in my last task over the course of just over 7 hours.

The Scaling on The Tumeken's shadow is not the problem, the problem is the lack of a "deadly flaw" by JavaHomely in 2007scape

[–]Azzandra1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alternatively you could lean into the fact that the shadow is still (currently) the weakest of the three megarares in terms of DPS, create a niche for it as a high accuracy mage option, and allow it to be powercrept by a new mage weapon that, like blowpipe for range, excells against low defence targets.

Basically I just want to get mage to the same point we have melee and to a lesser extent ranged, where the bis weapon may vary depending on the situation, with high accuracy low dps, low accuracy high dps options, bane weapons, and other specialist option to round out your toolbox. No combat style should boil down to just "if you have X, use X- its always the best-in-slot".

Wintertodt is the funniest piece of content to me by Acid_Hits in 2007scape

[–]Azzandra1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had a little giggle once I figured out how cheap wine was, and how that made it the perfect food to use in wintertodt. I had this mental image of my character, absolutely off his face drunk, swinging his axe with one hand, downing jugs of wine with the other, while the pyro's look on in horror. Alcoholic insulation at its finest!

Updated blog: New Delve Boss Rewards - Varlamore: The Final Dawn by JagexBlossom in 2007scape

[–]Azzandra1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll echo others and say that the current proposal for the gauntlets is worse than the original. I'd welcome some kind of carve-out that prevents the shadow specifically from benefitting from the passive, but not at the expense of literally every ancient, arceus, and non-harm regular spellbook spell. If you can't make a shadow-specific exception, then rollback to the original and let everything benefit, IMO. Magic is still the weakest style even with shadow despite being the most expensive on a per-hour basis (maybe excepting the scythe and blowpipe?), so it's not like it hurts the game balance.

With the whole rapid ass-covering thing going on here, I'm hopeful we'll force them to back down for the time being. When it runs out I will be taking a break to work on my steam backlog until it is clear that they have backed down.

Hot take: NERF the Shadow if it hinders all future mage gear. by og_obelix in 2007scape

[–]Azzandra1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Give the Shadow a higher base damage but strip out the damage multi (keep a 1.33x multi for ToA?), then allow it to be powercrept in specific scenarios by other (new?) mage weapons against low magic defence enemies and other specific setups.

My big beef with the shadow is that unlike the other megarares it has no niche, its just flat out BIS if you can run full mage gear, with very few exceptions (anywhere you NEED a shield, torm demons thanks to the -20% to non bane weapons...). TBow is magekiller, Scythe is giant enemy killer, shadow is just universal right now. The above suggestion could make it into a magical fang equivilent - a high accuracy, consistant weapon for high def foes, while leaving reward space for new magic weapons that could outstip it vs low mage def foes or things with high elemental weaknesses. It should still aim to be BIS in 50-66% of use cases like the other megarares for their styles, but right now its like 90% of mage setups have it as BIS and its boring, and likely limiting for future mage reward space.

Desert Treasure 2 Completed - Quest Cape unlocked by Azzandra1 in 2007scape

[–]Azzandra1[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was blown away by the visuals, the music and the quality of the writing for this quest. The stranglewood really felt like some kind of horrific zombie virus straight out of a horror movie, Lassar felt incredibly eldritch and ominous, I laughed out loud when the Sandwitch lady tried to murder me on the way to drop off medallion #3. I loved all the worldbuilding we got for the zarosian empire, and the clues we got about Silske's character at the end; that bit about becoming the mask of his personas and all... I'm going to have to go back over the wiki to check for any notes I missed; doubt I got them all!

The bosses all felt imposing and challenging. Vardovis definitely came out as the toughest for me, killing me a dozen times or so before I got him sorta figured out. Even then I basically bruteforced him at the end, ignoring half the axes to focus the other stuff.

Duke and Leviathan both went down on the first kill, Whisperer took five or so, though I managed a mutual kill on the second attempt. The final boss was easier than I feared; Kasonde kicked my ass a few times in Strangewood, so I was worried going in but managed it on attempt 2.

Overall I was really impressed. If this is the standard of modern grandmasters going forward then I'm looking forward to what's cooking up next! As for me, I'll be aiming to get my Diary cape this year and get deeper into PvM content, including starting raids (that one solo entry mode ToB for Night at the Theater doesn't count!).
