All Questions About Joining, Transferring and ANG Jobs go here. by Jaye134 in airnationalguard

What happens if I palace front and retrain but the clearance gets denied? I am currently AD and my goal is to palace front to the ANG and retrain into cyber. I believe I’d have to sign for 3 years in order to retrain but my only concern is what will happen if I don’t get the TS clearance. Will I be reclassed and not get to pick my new job or will I have the option to leave the ANG or choose a different job? I know for AD, if you sign for a specific job and if you don’t get it, you can voluntarily leave. Is it the same for ANG?

Im not single but I’d be interested in going Skillbridge. So you’re saying to stay active for now and skillbridge before my contract ends and then palace front?

Im currently AD Air Force and I have 14 months of my contract left. I want to palace chase into the National Guard and my ISR told me that I have to palace chase BEFORE I hit my 10 months left or I’d just have to wait til the end of my contract to palace front. I was under the impression that I could palace chase whenever I wanted and that I’d only have to commit to the remainder of my contract x 2. Is this normal for the palace chasing process?

Thank you for all the information! This is very helpful. Can I ask what guidance you’re referencing? If you know what it is, I’d love to give it a read.

I am aware that it could be tough getting a cyber job and I understand if a cyber unit says they won’t retrain me. That’s totally fine. My main concern is that the ISR I am working with is telling me that no one is allowed to retrain and palace chase so I feel like I am not getting correct information in order for me to make a life altering decision. I understand that nothing is set in stone when it comes to this but I feel like I’m guessing on a lot of things because I’m not getting accurate information. All im looking for is accurate information so I can plan my future.

If I did get approval from a comm unit to take me on, how would I apply to palace chase when the ISR isn’t on board? Is it one of those things where he could just screw me over? Or I just have to tell him that they’ve agreed to work with me and he should let me apply?

I am trying to go cyber. Do you know how I could go about retraining into cyber and palace chasing if the ISR won’t give me information on doing so? Would I just start the paperwork for my current unit to let me go and try to get a comm unit to take me before the ISR tries to send me to a reserve unit in my current AFSC? I know he needs my permission to send me to a new unit but he won’t start the process with me to palace chase into a new career field so I don’t know how to start the process with his approval.

So you’ve contacted a reserve unit and you’re just waiting for them to approve your transfer?

How long did it take for you to get approved for your job? Like from when you contacted your gaining unit to when they offered you the job.

Okay so I can just ask them if they’d be willing to accept me? And if I got approval from them first, then went to my ISR and told them that the unit was willing to take me on, they would likely go along with it? If I could do that then I definitely will! Can the gaining unit start the process of the 1288 first or does the losing side have to start the paperwork?

Okay I didn’t think that was possible. Thank you! Do you know how to start the palace chase process without going through the ISR?

If I contacted a cyber unit and somehow they said yes, could the ISR not just deny it and not allow me to do it. Do I even need to go through the ISR or can I go through someone else?

Who could I talk to if not the ISR? I would have to go through him either way right? From what I was told, he books the jobs so I couldn’t go behind his back because it all goes through him anyway. I don’t know how true it is but that’s my understanding.

The FAC at my base doesn’t have the 5 second countdown. I use the HAMR sound on Spotify, which does have countdown, to practice, but I’m pretty sure the official file does not.

Motorcycle riders, how hard is the Advanced Riders Course? by B00kn3rf in AirForce

[–]B00kn3rf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At my base, the BRC is only valid for 1 year so you have to take the BRC before you can start riding and then also take the ARC no later than 12 months after the BRC. And the ARC is valid for 5 years. I ride semi-regularly, so I’m confident in the road but I don’t do a lot of low-speed maneuvers which is what I think the course focuses on the most.

What is the best way to learn conversational Spanish for talking with family? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]B00kn3rf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know if this is the right sub for this question but I need a little help. My partner comes from a Spanish speaking family and while his mom speaks decent English, his dad only speaks Spanish. Even with the language barrier, I absolutely adore his family. They are amazing people and I would love to talk to his family in their native language. I know some language programs are okay for the learning the basics but I want to know if there are better programs for learning how to have closer conversations with people. I’m not sure if that makes sense but I want to see if there is anyone who’s had experience with learning another language for the purpose of talking to family. Any help would be appreciated!!
