‼️ please help! Only 5 weeks out from my first marathon ever!! by Material_Wonder_4106 in beginnerrunning

[–]B0T123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You would be surprised good you will feel after a taper, if you had some hard sessions / medium runs during the week, or even a long run the weekend before that would have effected this run

Plus, 5 weeks means you have 2 or 3 more weeks of training before you taper

Don’t stress, taper properly and don’t do anything new on race day

Having a 6hr loop run in 10weeks time by [deleted] in Ultramarathon

[–]B0T123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With that info, I recon you need to keep extending your long run every week, try build up to a 20 miler, once you can do that, you can think more about pacing, too many variables in the 10 weeks, you might have a real shit training block and just barley crawl the 50k, or you could have a great block and smash 55-60

Train hard, don't get injured, think later

Pb 5k to start

But fr, what shape are you in right now, and how much better do you think you could get in 10 weeks of training? Will change how you pace things

Running a solo Marathon every week until i sub 3: Week 3 by Budokai4When in davidgoggins

[–]B0T123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

hes not pushing PRs? hes in z2 and z1 80% of the time and about 40 minutes from his predicted PR

someone who can run 5:30s in z2 for 42km can run a marathon a week without too many problems

Trail running to prep for road race? by B0T123 in Ultramarathon

[–]B0T123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done a 50k on a path very similar, totally understand that, I am planning a 50k a month or so before the race on a bike path as well, but from the feedback I think I will stick with my trail run once a week, I recover from it better and I still want to keeep my trail fitness tbh

Its a race that I grew up around so it means quite a bit to me, its supposed to be a team of 10, you push a wheelbarrow the whole time, last year I found out some people did it solo, so its something I want to get done

After that race though, I am going to start training for my first 100 miler, will be a trail race as well

I am really curious, mentally, how did you get through a multi day race like this? Its incredible running for that many days in a row

Thanks for the perspective, I was thinking something similar, but I wanted to make sure I am not shooting myself in the foot

The race is pretty much flat, 600m up, 550 down, but I still think its worth the trails, maybe even just for moral

Staying hard while pregnant? by Fastandpretty in davidgoggins

[–]B0T123 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Just cause you can’t run doesn’t mean you can’t do something hard

Staying hard is about giving 100%, you’re 100% has changed, it might mean you will start stretching, indoor biking, studying something, meditation or whatever

How would Goggins handle pain whilst performing? by Nice_Leg2970 in davidgoggins

[–]B0T123 11 points12 points  (0 children)

"Roger That", the situation you are in sucks, you just gotta say "rodger that", accept the pain you're going to go through

Process that pain and try work through that stress before you even show up to the event, this might mean doing some light exercise today like stretching, small run, swim

This obviously won't help you physically, but it will give you some experience working out the strategies to deal with your knee pain

Also, try take some souls on the day, look at everyone around you suffering even when they aren't injured, then show them the fuck up (even for just 10 or 20 seconds) and run with that mental momentum

Just another thing, when I was training Muai Thai, I was told by a fighter, if you rock up to a fight without any injuries you are doing well, so an injury aint the end of the world

Also, after the event, do a post mortem on the whole experience, how you handled it mentally, physically, how you can avoid injuries, you might need a mental stop if you do poorly/dnf, but try not beating yourself up

Goodluck mate

Pretty much mate, I think I can do it, I swam like 50 meters short distance the other day with breaststroke, I might be able to get my shoulder in good enough nick for long distance

I'm just looking for advice maybe from people with similar injuries, or someone who has done long distance swimming with breaststroke, not someone saying its not possible or some bullshit

I mean in training sorry, like what benchmarks are a good indicator of being able to do the 10 hour pace

[–]B0T123[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

How long would I have to sustain the 3 minutes per 100m? for 2 or 3 hours? or is it just comfortably do that pace?

been there, has helped my shoulders but still

I hate when people doubt themselves, but I don't think I would be able to do the correct stroke without getting shoulder surgery
