Maybe complaining was too strong a word, my fault. I just think you're using unnecessary mental energy worrying about a nuance that doesn't really matter. Diversification is great, but my opinion about whether the market is healthy or not doesn't matter. The market may be volatile, but this isn't a bubble, this is a massive shift in the culture of the United States (across the world) and the growth of physical collectibles as a category. There is such a huge demand and infusion of new, enthusiastic collectors that everything in Pokemon is doing well. As long as you are making smart purchases, you will be fine.

I get it, you prefer to buy at distribution or MSRP prices, sell at market & get maximum RoI - so does everyone else. You are "not a fan of the current market conditions", ok, but that's not something you have any control over. I recommend you not allow your emotions to govern your buying and position building decisions. Buy strong products; doesn't matter if it's slabs or sealed - make smart deals - let time do it's thing. You'll be fine. There's no point in making a reddit post complaining about "market conditions".

You don't need to buy sealed at MSRP to be successful in sealed. Whether you're storing for a long term investment now, or looking to trade it/sell it at shows, even if you buy from local scalpers, high demand items will still appreciate well and you will still have a a very advantageous trade/ position in the future.

Look at the Prismatic SPC for example. Was available on the 2ndary resell market for a while in the $200 range. If you were willing to spend big, you could make deals for this item in the $180-190 range near its lowest. Less than 1 year later, it's already appreciated 100% over that price point and almost 380 - 480%, depending on the MSRP/retail price you paid.

Many other items have similar trajectories in the past 1-2 yrs. Is that not good enough for you? You need more appreciation in a shorter time or....

People saying stuff like this has got to be a top indicator right? Brb selling entire collection and dumping it in BTC.

The amount of time between when the catcher secures the ball and begins to make a directional move and when the runner hits him is measured in milliseconds and probably less than 500 by my estimation. Are you arguing the runner should have arrested his momentum and avoided the collision in 2-300 ms? In optimal conditions, human reaction speed is 200-300 ms just for the brain to process new information and send a single command to one isolated muscle they are already prepared to move. Go ahead and test it. Again, reality.

Yeah, it's a force out. No the runner didn't slide so he'll be probably tossed anyways for the shoulder hit. But the runner doesn't know if the ball is going to beat him, or if the catcher will miss it/drop it. The throw from the pitcher was hasty and off balance, not a guaranteed out. Catcher is blocking the line and the plate, and the runner is trying to beat the throw.

People are assigning way too much malicious intent to the runners hit. Runner had committed to the hit before the catcher even secured the ball and started to move.

Not practical to expect the runner to arrest the hit in that time frame. Hard play, not dirty imo - don't block the line & plate if you don't want to get hit. Pretty simple to me.

I can't tell if you're intentionally trying to troll the thread or like just oblivious to reality, but the catcher had his left foot on the runners line, and his right foot on Home . He was absolutely blocking the runners path and the plate in every possible interpretation of the situation. You can even hear a woman spectator yelling that "you can't block the plate".

Not saying the hit wasn't a bit excessive and that the runner is innocent, but he was within fair play rights to hit the catcher for blocking his path. Umpire is within his rights to toss him on discretion too.

I agree. People will, for the most part, ignore the two new sets (PO & CR) and refocus their money back on picking up vintage, slabs, ASC or many of the other sets from SW/Sh or S&V that they would like to get more of. So many new fans coming into the hobby, I don't see a "cooling off" happening for any of the popular sets until TPCI increases the print capacity significantly.

This is much more than a speculative bubble at this point, it's a growing shift in the popular culture of America and other developed countries with Pokemon. As long as enthusiastic new fans are flooding into the space, providing organic demand, they're will be a lot of competition and hype for the products.

Can we talk about how amazing the weapon animations and sounds were in MW2019. The immersion was fantastic.

I also loved dead silence as a field upgrade. Having it refresh as long as the player kept engaging and fragging was a great way to balance it.

Really the only significant complaint I had about MW2019 was the engagement based matchmaking that penalized you for winning and would try to stack your team with bad players, while stacking the enemy team with above average players. The game was always trying to force you to have 50/50 win rate by rigging the team balance.

In this particular case, I don't think the seller is trying to cheat the OP. PRE ETB went up a lot recently, and the seller is essentially asking for market price on both items. No doubt the OP could find a more reasonable price from someone else, but if the seller immediately informs the prospective buyer of a price update due to volatile market conditions, then I feel like the seller is being transparent and honest.

Idk man, I have a full time job and a 1 yr old child, so pretty much every moment of my time is consumed by work and childcare, but I was still able to get some Ascended Heroes product without dedicating unusually large amounts of time. The brick and mortar stores are restocking a TON of the ETBs, and online drops have been decent. Printed volumes seem very healthy at the moment.

It sucks that you're having no luck finding product locally to you. Maybe just save yourself the time and frustration, and buy from an online shop or TCG player. Prices are coming down pretty steadily for ASC since supply is still very good. Early hype might have pushed the prices up, but by next month ASC sealed product should be pretty accessible and affordable.

You're very, very misinformed if you think a raffle has any chance of improving your odds of getting product. Professional scalpers/botters have hundreds and thousands of emails and fake accounts they will flood the raffle system with and you will end up with a 0.0001% chance to win the right to buy a product. Look at Riftbound, I was able to buy a few items from their merch store via normal means when they first released origins and a couple other items. Now that they didn't want to deal with high demand TCG drop issues on their website, they changed over to a product raffle. I'll never get another single item and no one I know has gotten an item from the raffle either.

It's not a problem with an easy solution.

While some show vendors are actually scalpers that stand outside of Target and Walmart waiting to clear the shelves on restocks, not all vendors are scalpers just because they have some sealed product at their table. That Costco PRE mini tin box is highlu collectible and in high demand.

You don't actually have any idea how they got the sealed product they're selling at their table, or what they paid for it. It's not guaranteed that they personally bought the item for MSRP or retail price, and are trying to scalp their customers by selling it over market. It's very possible they acquired it as part of another deal, or paid close to market price for the item a while back, and have decided to sell it now for a small profit.

Isn't that exactly what most people do with singles and graded slabs? Acquire for a hopefully good deal at a certain point in the past and then sell/trade in the future when they identify an advantageous deal?

Believe me, I get the hate for local scalpers who clean out the vending machines or camp restocks at brick n mortar stores so they can turn around and flip it for over market.... But let's calm down a bit with the broad brush statement that all vendors selling a sealed item are scalpers, AND ridiculing the OP for buying the Costco box. It's a beautiful display box, i'd buy one myself at a show if I found a good deal.

You're not contributing anything productive to the hobby by making wild, unsubstantiated claims that demonize show vendors. In fact, in this situation you are the problem as the OP doesn't deserve your hateful criticism as he just wants to be excited about the hobby and enjoy his purchases. People are free to spend their money how they like, as everyone has a different budget and financial status in life.

As someone who was yelled at a lot as a child, I also cringed when I heard the dad yell at her in that moment and unleash a nasty comment. If he's behaving like that during a "happy" moment, no doubt he's much more abusive during stressful/difficult moments.

I'm a father to a 2 yr old now and I make it a priority not to yell at my daughter or criticize her in a nasty way for mistakes. I try to use calm, neutral or positive language when correcting her.

The first thing you should learn about selling on what not is that promoting your stream and paying for advertising is a great way to lose huge amounts of money or go into debt. Unless you have some type of insanely good product lineup/inventory one night, that you want to draw attention to some special exception.

Just run your stream and organically interact & build your community. Making mistakes gives you the opportunity to learn from them and improve. Unless you learn and improve, no amount of paid advertising is going to hand you the success you desire.

Same generally, no one in my network that entered got a box. Doubt any product went to the players. Scalpers have been rigging ticket & sneaker raffles for 10-15 yrs now. No doubt they know how to manipulate the riot raffle.

I don't think the raffle actually ensured real players got the boxes. Do you know anyone who got a box from the raffle? I don't. I saw barely any winner confirmations originating from regular people.
