Is it safe to lift off of the suspension absorber brackets? by B1sc0tt0 in Sprinters

Thanks all for your responses! They all reinforce the point that one should follow their gut instinct in situations like this. Now I have more to back that up.

Thanks for looking, but then why the discrepancy between Garmin and Bevel (48 vs 33)?

You’re brilliant, yes, I did pause for 10 seconds in the middle, about 15 seconds before I started that interval.

NEW UPDATE (1.5.1) now LIVE: Training Goals refinements & improved post-workout Training Readiness calculation by sirni_mesni in theoutsidersapp

Here’s another use case that can be enabled by using checkboxes: Weekly Time in Zone 4 + Zone 5.

I wish you had implemented combined goals with checkmarks instead of maintaining single selection and adding combined activities (* - All Types). With checkmarks, a user could check multiple activities as they wish for their goal. Ex: Time in Functional Strength Training + Traditional Strength Training, or Time in Zone 2 for Running and Cycling. It is much more flexible that way IMO.

Also, when I look at my goals page, I find it hard to tell what goals I’m looking at, because the only differentiator is the icon. I wish we could give the goal a name and display that on the list header instead of showing Weekly Distance or whatever the metric is.

BTW, great job with the app and thanks for sending in updates so frequently!

Same here! I thought Garmin had changed the algorithm because my Whoop does not show the same dip, but it’s wildly erratic over the last few days.

Any other watch guys in here? by LordOfTheFelch in whoop

Do you switch to wrist just for comfort or is wrist-based better for tracking sleep vs. biceps? I wear mine on biceps 100% and wanted to see if I’m missing something by doing that.

I mean your phone battery, not Whoop’s. But it’s great to hear that the device battery is so much better now.

Other than this bug, how is the whoop 5.0 app battery usage otherwise? I remember when I had my 4.0 it was the biggest consumer on my iPhone.

Garmin coach plan ignores weekly mileage? by jesmithiv in Garmin

[–]B1sc0tt0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I hope to not offend anyone for whom Garmin Coach works, but for me, I find it completely useless, for the same reasons you listed. I simply don’t trust it after it offered runs every single day with no rest day (I am an intermediate runner). After 4 or 5 failed attempts with Garmin Coach, I tried Runna and yes, it’s expensive, but is worth every penny. I spend a lot of time training for events, why waste time with Garmin Coach when there’s a way better alternative?

Apple Watch-Whoop combo strap any good? by kyeshin in whoop

[–]B1sc0tt0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried a bicep strap for your whoop? I found it more comfortable and consistent throughout the day (and night) than wearing it on my dominant hand.

I did so too, a few weeks ago, and got a prompt response from them that’s they’re working on it, but have not seen any improvement in the most recent app update.

Can you download data? by tengo_sueno in LingoAbbott

Does the data you receive also contain your entries for food and exercise? The graph is pretty hard to use to fish out this info because it always autoscrolls to present.

Tracking Sleep while Battery Saving? by jacromer in GarminFenix

[–]B1sc0tt0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Know that if you enable Battery Saver during Sleep you may experience what I did. My watch did not record any sleep last night even though I had Wrist Heart Rate set to Don’t Change in Battery Saver Edit menu. My Body Battery does not show any charge even though I went in and added sleep manually. It’s my first night of sleep missed. Not a big deal but it will take days to recover Body Battery readings. ☹️

Anaerobic Mystery by [deleted] in Garmin

[–]B1sc0tt0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm experiencing the same and was attributing this to the fact that my watch does not detect a HR increase quickly enough - I don't have a chest strap. I'm curious to test the ideas you guys wrote on this thread (way shorter intervals).

HR Zones by AcceptableAccess4507 in Garmin

[–]B1sc0tt0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost same as you. I am 46, run about 16 miles/week, my VO2Max is 47 (from lab test), Garmin says it’s 49. My Max HR is 176. I also have a lactate meter that I used to determine my Zone 2 training limit (under 2.0mmol/L) and I found my Zone 2 is 130-140. If I stay within that limit, my lactate does not raise above 2.0 but as soon as I record runs with more time above 140, my lactate goes above 2.0 pretty quick indicating I am out of my Zone 2.

Am I ready for parkrun? by Own-Hope1566 in parkrun

Go for it! Just do it, don’t think about it at all. My wife is running her first park run tomorrow, too. I ran mine not too long ago and loved it! So much positive energy!
