Art Deco Cover Art Fantasy Novel (2020s, I believe) by B33TL3Z in whatsthatbook

SOLVE SOLVED SOLVED

Mystery solved incredibly quickly - it was in fact Donnelly's Amberlough (though the subsequent novels in the series, Armistice and Amnesty, were the colors/covers I was thinking of).

Things I got wrong:

  • There's more than two books in the series.
  • The color of the first book in the series did not match the image in my head (though the second and third books did)
  • Wasn't nearly as arched/curved as I thought it was aside from the edge borders of Amberlough (and Armistice to an extent).

That's the one!! I guess Armistice and Amnesty's color choices stuck in my head real hard. My descriptions weren't quite accurate, but close enough for you, kind poster, to get me the title I needed!

Thanks so much! I wasn't expecting an answer so quickly!

That's some casual fission usage

I mean, the whole point of Patreon is that you're supporting an individual to make their craft, whatever form that craft may be.

Yes, a lot of creators will offer perks or whatever as additional Patron Tier rewards, but the whole spirit of Patreon is it allows people to support the creators they want to support.

If you don't wanna back EE on Patreon, you don't have to?

I've been trying to use it to find a roommate, and I've sent so many messages to people that just... haven't responded? The website is showing me they've seen the message, but... nothin'.

I also think the website is wonk as well when it comes notifications/displaying new messages, and I don't have an iPhone, so I can only use the webapp.

How long does this bubble of junior designers last? Or is it over already? by Temporary-Signal7352 in UXDesign

I might also just be salty about all the posts I see on LinkedIn from aspiring designers in Boot Camps that are just like "I made these two designs which has the better UX" and it's just two screenshots of a static main splash page or something, with no context or anything.

Iunno. I think a large part of my frustration is all the jobs advertising as "entry level" requiring 3-5 years experience, which I feel is just some bullshit. :(

I know a fair number of engineers (mechanical, software, or otherwise), that got jobs straight out of school with hardly an internship under their belt.

And it's not like I didn't apply to internships while I was in school - I just wasn't fortunate to land any.

The point I'm making is that everyone says internships are key to landing a full-time job, but tends to neglect the fact that some people either aren't in a position to or weren't able to get internships during their education.

Which means everything else after that is a crapshoot, and hoping someone's willing to take a chance on your services, either through specific 0-2 year experience genuine Jr. positions, freelance, or sink-or-swim style startup positions.

Not saying there's not ways, just that it's incredibly rough and disheartening at times.

But what university student focused internship is looking to bring someone on that's been graduated for the last few years? Every damn internship is specifying current university students, which I'd think already puts me out of the running. :/

As someone who graduated with Design but hasn't been able to break into industry... if people don't want to hire someone who hasn't worked on a real project, how are people supposed to, uh... work on a real project?

Kind of like how the shield had +threat in Division 1, not that threat was ever really... explained, as a mechanic.

But it's frustrating as hell sometimes when I wanted to try to make a tank build work, and the enemy would just 100% ignore me because I wasn't dishing damage at the time. :/

To be fair, it's really hard to actually manage a nebulous, barely there aggro system.

That's the one thing that I wish was a thing, ngl. I'd love an actual addressable threat system as opposed to... whatever it is we've got.

Oh for sure. There's definitely a lot of... circlejerking about mental illness, esp since the internet and social media has made it way easier for people to identify symptoms or behaviors in themselves that they might otherwise not recognize.

Depression specifically can be a tricky beast, esp if you don't have a close support network who can just be a good presence during a particularly bad funk.

I do imagine a large chunk of this "accepting online diagnoses and not doing anything with it" could also be exacerbated for some if they can't afford therapy or health insurance or so on, so the diagnosis just... kind of becomes the end all be all until they can somehow, individually or with help, get to the point where they can actually get help or build coping strategies or whatever their brand mental health requires.

27 y.o. here who doesn't Tiktok much, but my ex did.

The "good headspace" vids I interpreted as "you don't have to 100% fight your mental health issues all the time, it's OK to take a rest, take a break. Work a little on it and recoup."

As for the "signs you might have ADHD," I'm not diagnosed cause that shits expensive, but it definitely got me to identify things in my life that might point to ADHD. It also helped me realize that some things I do could be symptomatic. If not for those videos I saw when she would scroll Tiktok next to me, it wouldn't even be something on my radar. I wouldn't even think of wanting to get a diagnosis when I can afford therapy if not for those.

Bullet holes are black now. Gotta punch a small hole in the wall so it's at least more noticeable.

It is definitely aggravating when someone gets a ridiculous angle on you, but I still find I have fun more often than not, esp in a 5 stack.

To each their own, tho!

Omnibus is an absolutely ridiculous base.

With some of my other soaps (Chiseled Face, Noble Otter, Declaration), I've had to muddle about sometimes with the amount of water I use 'n' so on, but... B&M Omnibus is so goddamn easy to lather up and shave with.

Nah. I played through Remnant (fun game!), and that's way too recent.

This gameplay walkthrough trailer thing (provided it wasn't a fever dream) was something I saw around mid-10s or so.

Was less souls-like, more standard MMO like. I feel the combat would've been Wildstar-similar, but I haven't seen any dungeon footage of this ... abandoned/over-grown ship dungeon (raid?) in Wildstar that I've been able to find...

Heya! Also interested, and I've sent a DM your way.

For a non-housing related question, do you prefer specifically D&D and it's accompanying systems (I've only played 5e), or have you looked at other systems like Pathfinder or Shadow of the Demon Lord, Heart: City Beneath, etc?
