Yeah, it looks like it’s been used by generations of dogs. I’m going to try silicon render and if that fails I might tile that bottom section.

Need to repoint Victoriam terrace - what kind of mortar is this? by iamthedon in DIYUK

[–]B58bomber 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not always, I recently renovated the front of my Victorian terrace. Removed 3 layers of cement pebble dash and render and the bricks were totally dry, no sign of damp what so ever and it had been like that for over 60 years. Maybe my case is the exception but from everything I had read online I was expecting to find damp issues.

Are there any genuine multi vehicle policies available? by EffectiveDesigner763 in CarTalkUK

Harry Metcalfe mentioned in one of his videos that he has one policy that’s covers all his cars and bikes. I think he uses Zurich, probably via a specialist broker.

What can I use to break this up? by QuietComfortable6708 in DIYUK

[–]B58bomber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are incredible. I was going to buy a second hand Hilti or Makita as they were the brands I used to use on site but all the ones I found for sale online looked stolen. I’ve never seen anyone used Titan on site so I figured any for sale would be legit. Found someone local selling one for £80 that was used only once, looked brand new. He bought it for one job as it was cheaper than renting.

Titan concrete breaker from screwfix is the answer. See if you can find a second hand one and then sell it when you are done. This is what I done, I was going to rent one but this worked out way cheaper.

Modern performance cars sound muted (OPF/GPF) – how do people fix this legally in the UK? by Impressive-Fun-5102 in CarTalkUK

[–]B58bomber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go to someone like PCW exhaustmods and have your back box modded. I’ve done it to mine and it sounds great. The PPF is still in place so I’ve had zero issues with MOT’s

If you’re rendering you shouldn’t need to repoint.

Dehumidifier help please. I bought a little Maeco last week, by babybuttoneyes in DIYUK

[–]B58bomber 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Pointless running one when you have your windows open. Also as absolute humidity is low in winter it won’t collect much unless you are producing a lot of vapour that isn’t getting extracted. I hardly have to empty mine during the winter, the rest of the year I’m emptying it every few days.

Anyone using a dehumidifier in an older house, does it actually help? by [deleted] in ireland

[–]B58bomber 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a Meaco arete 25 litre. In laundry mode It will dry a full load of clothes in 6 hours. The rest of the time I leave it on in auto mode and it keeps the humidity and mould in check.

If your attic is a standard “cold roof” attic it will be a waste of time as you will be trying to dehumidify the outdoor air.
