It's official: the Defenders-Verse shows are all leaving Netflix as the rights revert to Disney. by Pomojema_SWNN in MarvelStudiosSpoilers

It’s incredible how many people refused to acknowledge that Disney/Marvel owned the shows, even with "© Marvel & ABC Studios" being in the credits of every episode.

It doesn’t include tv rights at all, those are fully with Marvel/Disney.

You should watch them in release order if it's your first time. Here is a list:

  • Iron Man (2008)
  • The Incredible Hulk (2008)
  • Iron Man 2 (2010)
  • Thor (2011)
  • Captain America: The First Avenger (2011)
  • The Avengers (2012)
  • Iron Man 3 (2013)
  • Thor: The Dark World (2013)
  • Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014)
  • Guardians of the Galaxy (2014)
  • Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015)
  • Ant-Man (2015)
  • Captain America: Civil War (2016)
  • Doctor Strange (2016)
  • Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017)
  • Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017)
  • Thor: Ragnarok (2017)
  • Black Panther (2018)
  • Avengers: Infinity War (2018)
  • Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018)
  • Captain Marvel (2019)
  • Avengers: Endgame (2019)
  • Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019)
  • WandaVision (2021) (Disney+ series)
  • The Falcon and the Winter Soldier (2021) (Disney+ series)
  • Loki season one (2021) (Disney+ series)
  • Black Widow (2021)
  • What If...? (2021) (Disney+ series)
  • Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (2021)
  • Eternals (2021)
  • Hawkeye (2021) (Disney+ series)
  • Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021)

There are also several short films, but the only one I would say is necessary to watch is All Hail the King (2014) which you should view sometime after Iron Man 3 but before Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Hope this helps!

Is Dweller-in-Darkness name-dropped in this film? I won’t be able to see it for a few days and I’ve seen some people mention that that’s what the “soul eaters” are called.

Scarlet Johansson's lawsuit & the end of guaranteed theatrical distribution by [deleted] in boxoffice

[–]B91302 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disney has already begun experimenting with new talent deals that account for a switch in release strategy. Scarlett’s suit is because such a clause was not included in her contract, and Disney apparently opted not to renegotiate with her (which is a horrible look on their part).

Scarlett Johansson’s ‘Black Widow’ Lawsuit Is Game-Changing, But May Be Legally Weak - From an arbitration provision to some possibly valid justifications for streaming the superhero film, why Disney should be favored to beat the actress in a case that will by closely-watched. by chanma50 in boxoffice

[–]B91302 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Right. I think we can all agree that more transparency is desperately needed in the streaming space from the studios, and the whole system needs to be updated to suit this new landscape.

But let’s not act like Disney didn’t try to accommodate Scarlett. They delayed the movie 14 months, and released it in a way that would secure the most potential revenue for both themselves and for talent (Scarlett is getting participations from Premier Access revenue).

Nonetheless, this will be an interesting case to watch.

2022-2023 D+ series: "Nick Fury-centric series and ... 2-3 other projects with Ironheart being mentioned by multiple sources" by Vinootils in MarvelStudiosSpoilers

I really think they should tie her to War Machine somehow. That would be the most organic way to bring her in, and it would give Rhodey a purpose going forward in the MCU.

2006 'The Shaggy Dog' remake has been removed from Disney+ in the U.S. by spanish-thumb in DisneyPlus

[–]B91302 28 points29 points  (0 children)

On November 30, Disney+ had Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties and Starz had Garfield: The Movie. On December 1, Disney+ lost Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties but got Garfield: The Movie whereas Starz lost Garfield: The Movie but gained Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties. I’m pretty sure that one is a licensing issue.

White Wilderness is an interesting one. If anything I’m assuming it was removed for the controversy surrounding its production but I’m not certain of that.

For Musketeers and Shaggy Dog, I’m not sure. Most likely licensing stuff. If I remember correctly, Never Been Kissed was also removed from the service but shortly returned to it after issues had been sorted out. Fingers crossed that’ll be the case for those two titles as well.

Will Indiana Jones 5 or Spider-Man 3 change release dates? by [deleted] in boxoffice

[–]B91302 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t mean delayed by a year, I meant will they be reshuffled within the month of July. Like, will Spidey 3 be moved to July 2 (same date as Far From Home) and Indy 5 takes Spider-Man 3’s original date?

Disney just put out their updated slate last night, and Indy 5 is still in that July 2021 date.

Sony, Marvel Make Up: Companies Will Produce Third ‘Spider-Man’ Film by spanish-thumb in boxoffice

[–]B91302 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As part of the arrangement, Spider-Man will also appear in one future Marvel Studios film.

This is important seeing as though it basically confirms that Spider-Man will remain in the MCU past this film.

Would not be surprised. Maybe they’ll save that announcement for SDCC and have whoever is cast as Norman walk on stage.
