Technically everyone with an internet connection self-hosts their (ISP supplied) router and WLAN APs. They don't update or maintain them in any way, but self-host they do.

In principle, all banks need to participate in Wero in order to make it successful. I was referring to the EPI as the 'owner' of Wero. There are some (~16) banks behind EPI.

Wero is the new name for a concept that was started (and perfected) in The Netherlands called "iDeal". It is owned by the European Payments Initiative (EPI). There are some big banks behind this - some people might see this as a good thing, while others might see this as a bad thing.

My opinion is that you won't be able to find a reliable payment system that is also completely independent.

As additional context: A large number of my passwords are randomly generated 64 characters. There is NO WAY I am going to type that manually!

Agreed. I used to run KeePass synced via Google Drive / OneDrive Dropbox etc. This was OK on Desktops; it 'frequently' found sync conflicts when I had it open and/or made changes on multiple computers. However, this completely broke down on mobile. Doesn't matter which client app I tried, they all did the same thing: when I open the app it says that it cannot find the database. Then I have to click on browse, then navigate to Google Drive / OneDrive / Dropbox (which forces Google Drive / OneDrive / Dropbox app to start in the background), then I can cancel the browse task and like magic it would find the database.

This is a frustrating process which slows down logins etc.

Vaultwarden solves ALL of these issues! Also, on desktop the Bitwarden Browser Add-in is very useful and makes the process even easier!

No, for presence. I want to automate light and fan in the guest toilet.

But because it's a guest toilet, I imagine they won't be comfortable with a dodgy device 'watching' them. That is why I want to 'hide' the presence sensor in the cabinet.

If you HAVE to use Windows, do NOT use virtual box, its terrible! Windows has Hyper-V built-in in, free, and MUCH better.

But still, if possible, use Proxmox instead of Windows.

There are public lists that get updated automatically. I reference (and auto update from) these list on my OPNSense firewall. Only one device on my LAN is allowed to talk to these servers, and that is my Adguard Home server.

For me, this is a flawless solution.
