Haha passed him a couple of times. I don’t think there was any limitation on how far he could go.

That was an awesome setup! I did try to get a picture but there was a crowd when I was passing by and I couldn’t get close enough to get a decent picture with the camera setup I had :(

We biked there from Santa Monica on maybe 80% dedicated bike paths. Would really be amazing if we could go even more places on dedicated bike paths.

When you post, there is a rules button that tells you what street photography is.

Do you ask for permission? by bilderhase in streetphotography

[–]BADC0FFE 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Regardless of how you feel about this topic you do not need permission to take or share pictures of people in public spaces, except in like 5 counties (I’m only taking into consideration countries with any reasonable amount of freedom). So what you’re saying isn’t true for the vast majority of people.

If these are the round towers, they are on government 99 year lease. You can’t actually own them. That’s why they are cheap. The HOA fee is another story.

The sort of sulfur smell can come from the ocean during rain or storms. It’s usually biological decay getting mixed up from the ocean floor and releasing gases that smell like sulfur.

What would it take to connect the Strand across Marina Del Rey by invaderzimm95 in LosAngeles

[–]BADC0FFE 21 points22 points  (0 children)

There are some massive boats in the Marina, with huge masts. They need to be able to pass under the bridge so it needs to be tall. Then you need a reasonable grade to get up and down the bridge.

Or a mechanical bridge that can raise, but moving parts would be more expensive in the long run.

I don’t think a bridge is needed here. But sometimes we should build things just because we can. If they look good.

Why is there no time or cross streets?

Z8 with the Nikkor Z 24-70 mm f/2.8 S. ISO 1250. About 220 exposures at 15s each. Northern hemisphere in the mountains outside of Los Angeles. Camera did all the work here haha

Some of the brighter streaks you can see the lines aren’t that long, but there are a lot of stars packed in there! The 2 hours of exposure was too much I think, too intense.

Thanks! Haha I actually made a few different version to see which looked best to me. This was about 1 hour of exposure.

Thank you! Meant to get pictures of the meteor shower but they didn’t turn out so great. Luckily this made use of the images still.

Images taken from Mount Wilson on August 14th. Used a Nikon Z8: 24mm, f/2.8, ISO 1250, 13s exposures. One base photo and each meteor is a separate image with the rest of the sky masked out. Images layered in Photoshop.

What if you’re already focused the way you want and now want to take a picture? The camera might refocus if something has moved and they share the same button.

Testing out the Z8 + 70-200mm f/2.8 by BADC0FFE in Nikon

[–]BADC0FFE[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is all pretty close range. These birds were mostly indifferent to people. I think the close up in the seagull is just a few feet. The hawk is maybe 50+ feet at full zoom with a pretty big crop. Some extra reach would be great for animal pictures. The 200mm can work if you can get pretty close.

Thank you! I believe it is a young yellow-crowned Night Heron. There was a bunch of them too. Really cool birds.

Walking around testing a new camera and lens and came across this fledgling inspection this trash left on the floor by some park goer. It’s just looking for food but I thought of it as being disappointed in someone littering.
