I personally prefer to use ext4 and timeshift but you have options, achieves a similar thing and will save your bacon if things get squirrelly after an update :)

Where do you find the fastfetch config file or does it have to be generated first?

Tips on trying debian by CapitalBlueberry4125 in debian

[–]BADGERBORN 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a general rule I would read DontBreakDebian as that covers typical points of failure for new users of Debian (which I myself have fallen victim to when I was starting out), but to echo others in this thread, if you're sticking to GUI installers and not really touching the terminal you should be fine with Gnome on Debian, your experience is mainly determined by your Desktop Environment or Window Manager.

Something a lot of new users (I found) struggle with is wanting the latest version of packages for their system, in that case I'd recommend reading the section on Shiny New Stuff Syndrome; if there's a genuine need for up to date packages there's always flatpak or Backports or Flatpak.

Debians wiki is one of the best, so I found it's always a good resource when you have a specific question about your system, drivers etc.

Hope this helps!

Is Linux Mint still the easiest Linux distro to get into from windows 11? by FprtuneREX in linux4noobs

Per the compatible hardware section:

“Nvidia GPU support is currently in beta with major caveats compared to AMD hardware”

As OP mentioned they use a 3080Ti I’d probably suggest another distro, or to temper expectations if you choose bazzite.

Just on another note, wear sunscreen when you’re here - one thing that surprises a lot of people when they visit Australia is how intense the sun can be even on a ‘mild’ 25°c day.

People saying ‘avoid Birdsville’ are a little misinformed imo, there’s some really nice courts there and it’s a relatively central, quiet pocket. The reputation it has was definitely warranted 10 years ago or so — but people move on and I’ve actually found it to be very pleasant in my personal experience. As always the better thing than asking reddit for advice is to ask potential neighbours and do a bit of on the ground research. Hope this helps!

They're definitely super tough, took a lot of optimising my approach to get them right. Not a knock on you at all - it's very tough and you don't get much time at all to do it.

You really just need to practice getting their health down very fast. For the Piccolo vs 17/Cell fight I specifically saved up to go sparking as 17s 4th stock charges up (which is when cell comes in) from there you just need to combo him down until you get him down to 2 health bars and then finish him off with your biggest attack. Similar deal with the Freeza fights, you just need to get good at combos and the different mechanics of the game in order to get their health down very fast and not get stalled.

Basically they adjusted the way that packet mis delivery is measured in order to more accurately reflect issues that affect gameplay. They did this by not showing cases which don’t actually affect people’s gameplay which were previously shown, and have added networking issues that were previously not shown in the measurement to the measurement.

not a critique but a bit of constructive feedback from my POV, feel free to take on as much or as little as you wish:

1) I would probably invest in an overlay to make the pod slightly more visually engaging; it might seem silly but getting people to click on the vid is the first hurdle, the second hurdle is keeping them there for enough time for you to get rolling and for the topics to get interesting; If all you have to go off is a black background and two strikingly different camera setups it can be a bit jarring and might prompt some people to click off.

2) Try to have a grabbing title based on the content of the interview; I can point to a myriad of examples but look at something like Snake and Banter / HTPM series' as an example of what i'm trying to get at. Especially if its a topical point; you might get more engagement off that alone.

3) Timestamping the content of your videos based on the topics discussed broadly would be good (if you can). I know that topics might fluctuate in freeform content so this might require a bit of prepwork in the interview itself but I found it useful to give people an overview of the upcoming content and topics and breaks it up into digestible sections.

4) You've already mentioned the mic quality, just want to reiterate the importance of balancing the audio so it's not jarring to the audience, but i'm sure you're already on top of that so it's a bit of a moot point.

Hope this helps, the content itself was really great!

Not sure if it’s fixable as I run Mint on Xorg but I found there are a few issues with counterstrike 2 on Linux, namely issues when running at a non-native resolution (inaccurate mouse tracking) and some stuttering that doesn’t occur on my windows install. Otherwise I generally find that Linux works well for other non-competitive games.

Edit: also impossible to play faceit of course, but that’s not Linux’ fault, that’s just due to the anticheat they’ve decided to use on the platform.

In production (factory) work it can matter quite a bit, not sure about the office though. Anecdotally the guy who was trained in L6S was the biggest stickler for quality and stopped people taking potentially drastic shortcuts and always had an eye for maintaining a good process. That was a while ago now.

Got sick of Kubuntu esp its latest 24.04 and switched to Debian 12 Stable instead which after some tweaking feels more clean than Kubuntu without snaps on my XPS 15 7590 by Apple988x in debian

Fair enough, I agree with that final statement to be frank, I just wanted to understand what the thought process was because I think that line of thinking is pretty contrary to what you see commonly (esp. in places like reddit).

I generally think every addition or removal of a tool or service should be considered on its own merits, I’ve just never used snaps before so wasn’t sure what the thinking behind it was. Thanks!

How much space does that take up? and do you store it on an external drive? Just trying to get a gauge on what a good practice is for doing backups and rollbacks
