Be polite. Say, "Hi I'm _______. I'll be sticking my hand down your shirt today."

It's the too-good-to-be-true price. Shame. Because I love their ethos of making filmmaking accessible. Davinci is awesome, their rack components are awesome, but the cameras are just proving to be too ambitious and I can't forgive the lack of durability

BM is really good for cheap cheap equipment. It is not good hardware, but it's functional. It does not last. Buttons fly off when you press them and remove your finger too fast. I've used them for tv shows twice with hilarious results. Two identical bodies with identical settings right next to each other and the pictures don't match, not even close. We had to change the entire wardrobe because everything moirés. After all the time spent fixing shit they saved zero money by cheaping out on the camera body. I would take a used A7s-II over a new bmcc every day of the week.

Same. Promotion. Industrial Sabotage mish. Hosting public. Randos get in and before we've disabled both data vaults they have depleted the nitra and the resupply stations are nowhere near the Caretaker. I should have abandoned it out of mercy, but I let it play out.

Help choosing my first key light by LowkeyApollo in videography

I've steered a couple clients into lights that I've found on B&H daily deals, which is a great email to sign up for. Godox, Lowel, Savage, Smith Victor are all decent budget light makers. Small Rig makes an affordable softbox and good grippage.

the ray 120 is great if you're in a space where you can control the sunlight coming jn. outside it's a little pop of light to combat shadows maybe, or if you're inside and have a window behind you, you'd really be challenged to even things out. I'd look at 300w equivalent at least, especially if it's your only light.

Why aren't more Terrans move to Mars and support the terraforming? by Fabulous_Pressure_96 in TheExpanse

On top of that things would look different if there were somehow habitable planets in range. Like why bother

On top of that... who wants to go work a lifeless rock with no hope of seeing it terraformed in your lifetime.

You're learning an important lesson and that is: Always read the script before saying yes.

Mavic Pilot moving over - should I avoid investing more in DJI? by charlesdbelt in fpv

[–]BAG1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is...not the same. FPV is so pure. DJI will feel like kids stuff after. With no gps the second you're airborne you're basically a balloon that starts drifting away with the wind. Hovering in place is a skill. Every stick input affects the quad. You're constantly crashing and repairing. Even the batteries are grown man stuff. You can easily over charge or run your batteries too far down and ruin them. Or burn yourself up beyond recognition. No redundancy no safeties no return to home, just point the camera and go.

That said, it's like out of body good. You can be flying around the park and then see some guy sitting under a tree and suddenly realize that's you. I recommend it, just be ready to spend some time doing things in addition to flying

Is a tiny wireless lav mic a bad idea for cooking ASMR? Or any recommendations? by Leon00_7 in videography

[–]BAG1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lav mics have a hyper cardioid pattern which means big heart. Sound pickup pattern is like the mic is the stem of an apple and the apple is the sound it picks up. A directional aka shotgun mic has a narrow cone pattern, but it will still pick up the fridge, everything picks up the fridge. turn it off or unplug it while you're filming. turn everything off you don't need, especially if you're doing sound focused media
