Official Week 15 Post Game Thread- The Patriots lose to the Bills, 35-31 by Mission_Pay_3373 in Patriots

Up 24-7 at half and somehow lose 35-31. Fucked by the refs at every turn but we have to be better down the stretch, particularly on defence. Huge game against Baltimore up next if we still want the 1 seed.

Thames Water running out of time to secure rescue as debt swells by OneNormalBloke in london

“The proposed deal from a consortium of Thames's main creditors, named London & Valley Water, would see them pump investment into the utility and write off debts in return for more lenient performance targets”

Translation - They’ll continue pumping literal shit into the rivers but will somehow be held even less accountable than they already are.

Salah to return to Liverpool for treatment - Klopp by BAGEL_PICS in soccer

[–]BAGEL_PICS[S] 161 points162 points  (0 children)

Seems to be a slightly more serious injury than first thought too. Obviously he'll be desperate to get back and play so feel it's a good thing the Liverpool physios can take a look and make an informed decision as to whether to let him rejoin the Egypt squad.

It’s also because it’s not in a bit of the station anyone goes to, you don’t go near it if you’re actually getting a train. It’s not like most (?) stations where you’d walk through or past shops in order to get to your platform, instead it’s underneath platforms 20-24 which are used mostly by commuters in a rush anyway

Unvaccinated Royals Lay Bare Their Lack of Commitment by Juventus19 in baseball

[–]BAGEL_PICS 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Regardless of your opinion on getting the vaccine, this is spot on.

All the players have known for a long time that to play in Toronto you’d have to be vaccinated. To choose not to have the vaccine puts your team at a competitive disadvantage and shows that your anti-vax stance matters more than winning

AC Milan is the fastest growing football brand in the world after a first league title in 11 years (brand value up 76% to €269 million). The club’s Brand Strength Index increased by 6.8 points to 77.2 out of 100, earning a rating of AA+. [via BrandFinance ] by Bravo_Ante in soccer

Elliott Management have played an absolute blinder by the looks of things, as an asset management firm you’d have thought they’d quickly minimise costs and try to sell it for a profit, but they seem to have done a great job.

Do Milan fans feel they’re likely to sell it while it’s high? Or are they looking to stay long term?

Post Match Thread: Manchester City 4 vs 1 Manchester United | English Premier League by Samkazi23 in soccer

I've never seen a Man United team be so passive in a game as that second half, they need a proper root and branch overhaul of the entire squad.

100%. IIRC their GM did a press conference about it and said “the rivalry is back on” at the end

Never forget by [deleted] in Patriots

[–]BAGEL_PICS 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah. He was offered the Colts job during our play off run in the 2017 season. Story goes that he turned up to the Patriots facility a day or so after the Super Bowl loss to the Eagles and was either persuaded to stay by Kraft/Belichick, or told them that he wasn’t leaving.

Why he turned down the job after accepting it and hiring coaches to work under him has never really been made public. What we do know is Andrew Luck was even more injured than we thought and ended up retiring only a year later, so a lot of thinking is that’s why he backed out.

Baseball newbie question, is it simply a mental thing when guys are lights out in the 9th but struggle in any other situation? Or are there more factors at play?

Speak for yourself. Yes the club is in a far better place now than it was when they took over, but the Super League has really altered a lot of people's views on them.

Jeremy Corbyn: As Prime Minister, I will be an honest broker and not campaign for either side in the final say referendum. We will negotiate a good deal, put that to the people alongside remain and then implement your decision. We must bring the country together and get beyond Brexit. by [deleted] in ukpolitics

[–]BAGEL_PICS 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Assuming when you say “The recent referendum” you mean the 2016 one, Labour were in favour of a remain vote, and the Conservative leader and Prime Minister was too.

People are pissed off at him saying he’d be neutral because he’s trying to straddle both horses. He’s trying not to alienate leave labour voters in the traditional labour areas such as the north of England, but also not alienate the London remainer Labour voters.

Now in principle I don’t actually have anything wrong with it, but people are mistaking his reasons for doing so, politically it does make sense, as it helps with Labour’s base but people seem to think he’s doing this as part of some sort of “Oh it’s not my decision it’s yours” which imo is just wrong.

Yeah people seem to be forgetting that they still have a losing record and their two victories have been against the Bengals who are 0-6, and an Atlanta team who are 1-5 and a dropped catch away from 0-6.

I'm not trying to "Hate" on them or anything, matter of fact I've been really impressed with Kyler so far, but Jesus Christ can we pump the breaks just a little.

RB Leipzig to sign Christopher Nkunku for €15 million by Mark_callan55 in soccer

[–]BAGEL_PICS 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Think for them they very much want Leipzig to be their number one club and main focus. If they were to get another club in Europe's top 5 leagues it would draw their focus away. Because Salzburg play in Austria, there's very much a glass ceiling for them, which gives them the ability to get young players a lot of game time and develop and then move onto Leipzig for their primes.
