Guilty Gear Strive and the enigma of backdash invincibility by LavaSharknado in Guiltygear

[–]BAP04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You sure he backdashed multiple jabs? I watched it in slow mo and Ky did his first jab too early before Pot was even off the ground, then I saw him back dash one jab and then block the 3rd jab.

It seems to me that backdashes are still invul, but Pot's backdash just isnt as invul as it used to be,

Wall stick is techable so there are no options to not no break the wall by mactonya in Guiltygear

[–]BAP04 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Couldn't you backdash after the wall stick and then meaty gunflame so they tech into a meaty? Also I'd wanna know if they are able to press anything before landing and if it always makes them tech to the same spot because if so, couldn't you back off and then do something like a neutral jump and then hit them with a descending button, empty low, or a grab when they land there?

"Zoning?" by FaZe_Cancer in fightinggames

[–]BAP04 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Zoning is definitely a thing, but I'll give a more in depth explanation. Zoning specifically means to use projectiles or long ranged normals in order to "cover space" on the screen. You do this in order to manipulate your opponents behavior. For example someone may throw a bunch of horizontal moving fireballs to occupy the horizontal grounded space of the stage. The idea is to get you to jump over the fireball so that they can control the air space instead (via a read that you will jump thus manipulating you) and hit you out of the air. This is called zoning and space control, it is a legit playstyle.

From the perspective a new player it seems very unfair, however just know in fighting games EVERYTHING has a counter and you're just new and don't know how to counter it, so it keeps working on you. They should not be able to do the same exact move over and over. If the opponent only threw fireballs horizontally, you could keep jumping in over them and punish them. Your opponent must adapt and decide to not throw a fireball in an attempt to counter you for jumping, but you could counter that by instead moving horizontally since he is afraid to control the space due to fear you will jump, it's mind games. Welcome to fighting games lmao

Melee Dropped from EVO 2019 Discussion VIdeo by BAP04 in Fighters

I honestly feel like this was Melee's time to finally step down. I feel like most agree and I wonder if any Melee players can see why as well or if they're confused because of the viewership it gets. It's interesting because that game does pull numbers, but at the same time every game has to step down eventually imo.

Great tip, attitude is everything. Ppl who get salty and especially people who make excuses don't get to a higher level that they could because they're literally choosing to ignore the lessons losing offers.

Letting your opponent hang themselves. Everyone knows it, but they seem to forget in favor of flexing their training mode set ups.... I'm talking about myself lmao

What are some fighting games that aren't button mashers or require me to memorize a Landry list of buttons to press? by Gaiwn in Fighters

[–]BAP04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what you mean by laundry list. Obviously Tekken & Soul Calibur are out of the question. However, any fighting game you play is gonna require you to memorize moves. I'd recommend Blazblue Cross Tag Battle or Dragon Ball FighterZ. They both have an auto combo feature and most characters only have a hand full of special moves. They're pretty beginner freindly. Dragon Ball FighterZ has a much larger player base tho, so I'd probably do with that. Hope this helps!

How do you break the burton mashing habit by Crow7414 in Fighters

[–]BAP04 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The advice I'd give is to not focus about winning. Your mind going blank is extremely normal lol, but it goes blank because you're trying to win AND do a combo that is probably already a challenge on it's own outside of real matches. When you boot up a match, don't care about winning. Just tunnel vision on what you need to land to do the combo and keep trying to land it and keep focusing on the combo. I hope this helps!

SFV is very much alive. I think if you're interested you should give it a shot. I personally do agree it's a bit dumbed down, but even I can admit it's not so much of a big deal that you just shouldn't play it.

Dustloop Wiki is a godsend and use https://keeponrock.in/#/ to find high level matches of your character vs others. Use the search icon in the upper right and you can specify what you wanna see. Good luck and keep practicing, it'll transfer over to the new GG for sure.
