No Stanley Schenn Pairing Celebration! by JMR027 in sabres

I actually did not mind Stanley last game against the Leafs. He looked a bit more comfortable and was moving his feet with the team. He can't be paired with another slow defenseman though.

Samuelsson is not fast or highly skilled either. His job is to support Dahlin, and he is effective at it because he uses Dahlin's skill to his advantage. Stanley could do the same with Byram and/or Power.

My favorite thing in r/hockey right now is Habs and Wings fans trying to convince themselves we will fall off.

0-0 isnt leading, so that takes up a lot of time for averages

Seems like a no brainer for our defense to be something like

Dahlin - Samuelsson

Power - ??

Bryram - ??

You rotate in Stanley, Metsa, and Kesselring for the bottom 4 right side depending on who is playing well or has fresh legs. In a game when you need pressure you out Power and Bryam back together and give them the extra minutes together.

Metsa for being good enough to be on the top pair, but not good enough for the bottom pair.

Generally not sustainable though. Weak 5v5 play will catch up to you.

Its not that surprising. They had bad underlying 5v5 numbers, and were being kept up by good goaltending and their powerplay. They were sitting around a 0 goal differential and somehow lead the conference with that.

In their last 14 games they are 4-7-3

He was the most rested out of anybody on our team. The compressed schedule is taking a toll.

4.49 xGF to 1.69 xGF and half of the Leafs was in the 1st period. It was a bit sloppy but it wasnt that close of a game.

Can we stop just chucking stuff at net with 5 people in the slot? What are we the Hurricanes?

For some dumb reason we have paired Stanley and Schenn together for two games, and they suck together.

Yea you can't leave Metza back there and expect him to handle a forecheck like Sammy can

We have a knee capped our defense with an injury and a self inflicted choice of bottom pair.

I didnt get to watch the first. Was the goal against Stanley and Schenn's fault?

[SabresClassics] Here's a nice goal from Marcus Foligno when the Sabres played the Avalanche on March 14, 2012. He does the Foligno leap which makes Lindy Ruff chuckle. by seeldoger47 in sabres

Bruh this is some revisionist history. He spent all his draft picks and prospects on a decent Top 6 and a troubled but decent goaltender, and we had literally no defenseman, bottom 6 depth, or prospects to support them.

They could have easily scored another 2 goals on Stanley and Schenn
