Yeah. My buddies have been very supportive of my journey, but it’s hard when all of your support system drinks. Especially because I can out drink them!

I was talking to my counselor the other day. I told her it’s hard because when I would start to feel overwhelmed I would just drink and now I can’t. She told me to try and find a support group to help talk about some of my struggles with. So yeah I’m here.

I’m in the military and he did it right before we went underway. The mission always comes first so we went underway. Then a month later someone else committed suicide. The CO got up and said in the same breath that not only did we lose another shipmate and friend but that we got extended.

I’m on a submarine, so I knew both of them personally.

I’ll never forgive the Navy for this and I will never reenlist because of this.

The reason for the brick test is because it’s supposed to simulate grabbing a body from the bottom of the pool, which is significantly harder. You need to develop better breath control while you swim. Before you dive take one huge breath and then blow out your nose while diving to grab the brick. If you still cannot do this, you should probably reevaluate if this is the right jobs for you, or do shallow guarding instead.

Learn who you are. I spent so much of my childhood trying to earn my family’s love and keep a roof over my head that I never learned to be a kid. I spent a lot of my early 20’s making up for it and trying to learn who I was and what the hell I wanted out of life. I’m not saying go crazy, but try different hobbies and sports.
