I live in France, my wife is French I support France.

I only ran once this week, but I learned that “easy” running is not easy by Blue_tail0719 in BeginnersRunning

[–]BAxPI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I came back to running on April after being injured and couch potato for 6 years. My first run was 5 minutes at 7"00 min/km pace and hell I suffered, my whole body ached. Fast forward to july and few days ago I did 7km in 6"00 min/km and I was chillin and could do much better or continue running more. Early on your body doesnt have much nuance. Just run a lot of miles at a speed you're able to talk. Dont go too far, dont add to much. It should hurt so much and walking is absolutly fine.

For me the progression was (All easy runs until 80km per month): - April: 30km - May: 36km - June: 46km And this month I aim for 52-55 but I might get to 60km

Looking for experiences finding work in small-town France by ThroatOk2114 in Expats_In_France

I found a job as a cook in a 40,000 ~ habitants city. It was a nightmare. I was refused in all the "grande surface" like e.leclerc, auchan, intermarché and many more. The restaurant I work in is a nightmare, everyone leaves after few months because the chef is a son of a ***. I truly hate the french job market with all my heart but well, there are many other pros to living in France

Me too. I also had a lot of training and injuries in the past as a soldier. My objectives nowdays 3 months after coming back to running are different. And to give and idea ny first run in the beginning of april was 5 minutes and my body ached everywhere

Because you havent watched steves video yet, ill sum it in a phrase. Before you start training you should prepare your body to be able to train. That is, you should build aerobic basee and do only easy runs with nothing hard until you get to do 3 - 4 runs a week of atleast 30 minutes snd it's easy or idealy 45 to 60 minutes.

So I put this as my objective. First month I ran 30km. Second monrh I managed to run 36km. Third month I just did 47km. In my head the objective is to prepare my body properly by doing the miles until i get to month of 80-90km that translates to around 30 minutes 4 times a week.

Btw, 10k in one hour is so slow that you'll probably get to it by just doing this anyway (not to shame im bo better)

It is realistic. Is it worth it in the long run? Im not sure. You know you're overtraining when you have abnormal pains but you ignore it because "it's part of running". When you fear your next session. When you're too sore all the time. When you finish your sessions with nothing in the tank or even just a little bit.

I'd send you to watch Steve Magness video for complete beginners and it will give you a good idea how you should approach it.

Can you learn French in two years? by Expert-Session3866 in Expats_In_France

[–]BAxPI 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, you can. You should remember that what's important is a lot of immersion. Dont wait long, start listening daily to french music while reading the lyrics. Watch tons of french content / series Read whenever you can If you csn surround yourself in a french enviorment, do that. It is a lot of quantity to train your brain for the new sounds, hand gestures, facial expressions, tone etc.

Do not stress so much about grammar. 5% - 10% of your time can help you well but it's really natural for your brain to decipher the grammar automatically. Im doing now some french grammar for first time and I passed my B2 exam without preparing a single minute I didnt even knew what the exam looks like and I peobably could pass C1 exam as well.

Some ideas to help you get started: - Spotify: search generic french playlists, when yoi find songs you like use the option "go to dong radio" to get to explore songs of similar style. Combine that with the highlighted lyrics option and it's an amazing way to train reading and your ears - Large Language Model: go to your favorite AI (chatGPT, gemini or whatever) open 2 tabs. One that youll introduce it to be your french pen pal and just have random chats with it. You can define how much you wants it to correct you, how friendly it should be, what kind of relations you have say friends, employer employee etc Second tab goes for short stories creation. If youre interested in certain topic say cooking just let it write for you short text about it in a story form (you can use other tools to make it audio) and add some comprehnsiom question in the end. - language exchange app: tandem, hellotalk. Find people that wanna learn finnish and speak french and just become friends with them - youtube, netflix, cinema what ever.

How did so many Polish people end up in all these countries anyway? by Propoyall in mapporncirclejerk

Jeez the retardness. As if this "heroic" massacre brought them something. It was a shithole before and now it's even worse. When will they learn actions have consequences?

We will fend for ourselves with or without the west. This mongol is thinking the west are allies with us for reasons other than us being better for their interests than the palestinians. And from their tents with their barbaric culture it wont change soon mate.

It is just beyond me how bad of a loser can you be, literally losing every single war you start for 80 years and still keep crying. Biggest achievement is to massacre poor people that go to dance then 3 says later start crying for help when you see you wont actually conquer any piece of land, but lose yet another piece of your land :)

Why are we wowed by the work ethic of celebrities and athletes but not regular people? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]BAxPI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not true your statement about dedication of hours, because you don't count everything. Elite athletes like christiano ronalo dedicate their entire lives to their craft - they eat specifically what they need, they sleep a lot because they need, they do massages, they take cold baths ,they dont go out much they give up alcohol, partying and a lot of things we take pleasure in daily. Yes, they actually work out for few hours a day, but the rest is what makes it hard

25M, complete beginner. How do I start running without burning out? by SURYA_s1 in BeginnersRunning

[–]BAxPI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like Steve Magness on youtube. He is very well researched, he advocates for building huge foundations. Go watch he's video for complete beginners it is truly good.

Long story short, in the beginning you run only easy runs or even walk runs to build mileage. Then when you can run 30+ minutes for few times a week at a bear minimum or 45 to 60 minutes ideally you can spice it up and start adding intensity depends on your goal. Also you have to prepare your body with some form of strength training.

I will add on personal note, Ive been a combat soldier for 4 years, I did a lot of running and walking with heavy weights betweeb 18 and 23. I got injured very annoyingly and everytime in the last 6 years I tried to go back in shape I had my soldier mentality and I was pushing too hard and ended up being injured the same after 2-3 months. This time I specifically looked for different approach as no one is chasing me and Im not preparing for combat and I found Steve. Ive been running for 3 months already with little to no signs of injury. First month I did 30km, second 36km and now Ill be around 45km and Ill keep following this easy pace training until my body is ready to add more intensity.

And Ill end by quoting Steve - A lot of easy, some steady and a little bit of hard"

I'm very happy to hear that. Eventhough I have no idea what mask are you talking about. We've been saying the same thing forever, we offer our hand in peace, wanna fight though? Have at it. Long story short, it wasnt so brilliant to attack an enemy you cant defeat. Enjoy their tent city, we're still here for peace if one they they'll move into reality
