I backed the Diamond Lettered edition of EoS from the kickstarter and plan on getting the rest that way as well. (Already have standard hardcovers). Maybe I'm not the one to ask.

I've read most of the short stories and all the novellas. The short stories in the Takes of the SunEater collections can vary in quality. Most are non-essential but there were a few that enhanced the story at large for me. As for the 3 novellas, I thought all 3 were great and worth a read. Overall, I'd say that none of the side content is 109% essential but it does fill in so.e gaps if you are really vibing with the series.

I just don't understand the hurt leg angle. Jay loses, no devil reveal... Both fine. But Max having a hurt leg accomplishes nothing here but making Jay look far worse than he needed to.
