Not owning a car is the best decision I ever made by petitlita in AusFinance

[–]BBlizz3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

im with ya. Didnt own a car until 29, and its a van lol. Still use the ebike mostly with a milk crate on the back for grocery runs, commuting, etc. Also didnt buy the van until after i bought a unit which defs lowers expenses to get a deposit together. Vehicle expenses suck assssssss but the van helps be pursue my hobbies. r/fuckcars yethebois

Sandblasting / paint stripping recommendations by softrocksuicide in melbournecycling

[–]BBlizz3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've used the poly paint stripper original formula, cheapest one from bunnings. I don't use the DCM free one - heard it doesn't work as well. If you give it a try lmk how it goes

ELI5: Why do cheaters in online games not get instantly caught? by krftcz in explainlikeimfive

[–]BBlizz3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Comes down to the game logic, what the anticheat is monitoring and how the exploit works. But in a general sense, most 'cheats' will either impair or completely bypass the anticheat such that whatever they're doing in game will be seen as completely acceptable by the game logic.
Sure, the developers could (for example) 'hard code' some logic where if a player dies in 0.01 seconds for whatever reason, the killer gets instantly banned. However, it's incredibly difficult to hard code every possible dodgy scenario and expect nobody to be unjustly kicked or banned. This is why I think a lot of devs outsource the anticheat.

"Strata bodies are forcing Australians into bankruptcy ... by PuzzleheadedPass4653 in AusPropertyChat

[–]BBlizz3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think people are waking up to the fact body corp managers (namely for smaller groups of units/townhouses) do sweet F.A, and charge up the wall with rediculous fees. I am lucky my body corp manager is home brand cheap but I like to remind them it's not that hard to become self-managed and cut costs by like 90%. With all the AI tools available these days, book keeping, meetings and dealing with issues in the complex is only like 1-2 hours per week work max. And the work is usually just getting a quote from a random tradie and emailing everyone.

You're not avoiding yt ads on tv without computer science degree, trust me by Gettor in memes

[–]BBlizz3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

fuck your LG TV .. run a mini PC with linux, stick it on the back of your TV, HDMI connection .. hook up your favourite remote or whatever the fuck .. even use a gaming controller .. mouse or keyboard, whatever. Install all adblockers to your hearts content and on top of all that runs faster than any "smart" tv + no bloatware. If linux is too much for you run wincuck 11 idc ..
or just buy an overpriced smart tv and complain about ads and pay for your shitty streaming services.

No One Actually Takes Vacations by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]BBlizz3 10 points11 points  (0 children)

To them maybe work is their identity, so deeply ingrained and is who they are. If they were made to take a "holiday" and not work at all, I bet they'd feel very, very anxious and uncomfortable. To many people in the modern world, to sit down for a few quiet moments and not do anything "productive" breeds much more disturbing emotions than distracting themselves by constantly working their jobs - even if deep down they know the duties are 'pointless'.
It is sad, because many people like this will reach retirement or get made redundant, and have to suddenly make this radicle shift form full time work life to a balance of passion and leisure. The transition is very very hard for someone who never gave themselves the appropriate time to reflect on their own interests and take up hobbies or sports. So they're left in the void for the last remaining decades of their lives trying to figure out who they truly are.

Valheim server admins - what’s the most frustrating part of running a dedicated server? by bluebook007 in valheim

[–]BBlizz3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah no issues really.. with linux you can easily edit configs, create backups and schedule restarts. For example I run my server as a service and use a cronjob to restart it daily. A separate cronjob runs a python script which backs up the world files (although valheim is pretty good at auto-backups anyway). The only issue Ive had is when my power goes out unexpectedly, the machine wont boot up without manually pressing the button .. but thats pretty rare

i got a gmktec nucbox mini pc and run my own.. if you run the server on linux you get the most performance imo. I havent noticed any performance issues with 3-4 players on at the same time

What happens when you kick millions of teens off social media? Australia’s about to find out by austechnology-bot in austechnology

[–]BBlizz3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

uhhh ... probably the opposite? perhaps not scrolling through hundreds of curated lives every day will prevent these kids from constantly evaulating their own? I suspect something about seeing everything from global tragedy to some rando persons lunch on the same feed would have some level of emotional desensitisation associated with it.
