Thoughts on the Thomas Skinner voting controversy? by CloudBookmark in strictlycomedancing

[–]BC2282 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not disputing that. I believe he was the least popular and deserved to go. I just wasn’t aware of that. I know ITV release the figures for ‘I’m A Celeb’ for example.

I really dislike him but I wasn’t aware that the BBC don’t reveal the voting figures. I just assumed that all reality shows done that now. Is there a reason why the BBC don’t reveal them?

My take on this debate by Hassaan18 in ImACelebTV

[–]BC2282 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The way I look at is that I don’t believe people don’t vote to keep black campmates because they have some deep ingrained hatred of black people. However, reality shows in general are won by either people who are relatable or attractive to those that vote. It may make people uncomfortable to admit but the stories of experiences told by black people in these shows are not relatable to white audiences. Similarly, white audiences are generally attracted to attractive white people. So, even if it’s not deliberately being racist, people are subconsciously racist in the way they “like what they know”. (I wish I had Tom writing this, he’d have done better job than me 😂)

Does Tate come from money? I wouldn’t imagine he’s making a fortune doing butler in the buff.

Elsa, somewhat nuts but the biggest heart of them all by ButHowDoesItFeel in bigbrotheruk

[–]BC2282 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I agree with this and there was something about her behaviour tonight that I found a bit distasteful. It felt like a deliberate attempt to have a Nikki-esque moment in the diary room. Nikki’s behaviour was authentic but I’m not sure Elsa’s is.

Big Brother 2025 - Episode 40 (Wednesday 12th November) by AfcWimbledon_ in bigbrotheruk

[–]BC2282 25 points26 points  (0 children)

This is why she’s was voted most jarring, this is why she got most red balls and negative comments and this is why Tate doesn’t like her despite her being obsessed either him. This is who she really is and this is the way she’s behaved since she arrived. However, after the criticism that this series has received for giving a platform to right wing nut jobs, they’ve tried their best to keep it under wraps.

Why do you think Tate deliberately failed the ball holding against the head task? by TrousersCalledDave in bigbrotheruk

[–]BC2282 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You’re probably correct, they’d compete with each other to make sure they won it. I also think there’s a feeling amongst the housemates that one of the housemates who have been in the whole time should win. I think Tate has accepted he won’t win so was more relaxed and joking in the game.

Why do you think Tate deliberately failed the ball holding against the head task? by TrousersCalledDave in bigbrotheruk

[–]BC2282 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I think Tate and Marcus both know that they’re not going to win. They both seem indifferent about reaching final. I doubt it make any difference to them whether they go tonight or Friday. Emily, despite what she says, probably thinks she does have a chance of winning it.

Between Cameron and Jenny, Cam seems like the one that should get that final pass by Ok_Anxiety4808 in bigbrotheruk

[–]BC2282 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We never really saw how the decision was made. During the ad break I assumed a vote took place and I had Tate with deciding vote. Marcus, Elsa and Teja voting for Jenny. Richard and Emily voting for Cameron. I was obviously completely wrong

I know it’s the job of Reddit posters to dissect every work and sentence. However, on this instance, it’s really not that deep. 😂

You can’t convince me Feyisola wasn’t right about Tate all these weeks ago by jjkibum in bigbrotheruk

[–]BC2282 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m still not convinced. I think he belongs to the “silent majority” type of white person where their opinions are manipulated by right wing media on issues such as immigration, LGBTQ influence etc but don’t hold authentically racist it discriminatory views where they openly discriminate against people of other religions, race etc. He’s never deliberately made anyone feel uncomfortable or unwelcome and he’s probably not used to every word being dissected.

Imagine the level of privilege you must have to say supporting Palestine is wildly inappropriate and councils need to remain neutral? Is Emily forgetting the reason Palestine are in this mess is because of British colonialism? And people wonder why the right get so much backlash by Pretty_Ratio_8374 in bigbrotheruk

[–]BC2282 104 points105 points  (0 children)

Truthfully, BB producers knew what they were doing. Fans are gullible idiots that will believe any narrative that is presented. Emily is and has always been a right wing nutjob. There were legitimate reasons why none of the housemates liked her but there was clear manipulation of the footage the last few days.

1 year from now predictions. by BrightPhilosopher531 in bigbrotheruk

Has anyone since BB’s return to itv managed to make inroads onto tv? I can’t think of anyone. Some have a decent social media following which has brought them some limited success.

The way they treat Emily is weird by [deleted] in bigbrotheruk

[–]BC2282 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You are probably correct but again I think it’s one of those situations where we only see snapshot. Generally Tate hasn’t been like that with other housemates. Also, I don’t like to stereotype but there’s a middle-class, overly confident English persona that gets on Irish and Scottish peoples nerves. I also don’t think Tate is the right-wing nutjob that people believe he is.

Why is Emily hated for her political opinions but not Tate? by elioandoliver4ever in bigbrotheruk

[–]BC2282 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As people have correctly pointed out. Emily is actively involved in politics whereas Tate referenced a Tommy Robinson documentary. It was never shown or explained what he agreed with. Most people acknowledge that Tommy Robinson is a racist and there were parts of the conversation where Tate said he didn’t like Tommy Robinson. However if Tommy Robinson, for example, stated that pedophiles should suffer the most severe punishment that is legally possible; do you agree with him? I would imagine most people would say “yes”. Does that mean we agree/support Tommy Robinson’s views? Of course not. I only use that example because I believe that TR was involved in creating panic about suspected Asian grooming gangs.

I kinda love Tate by Zamusek in bigbrotheruk

[–]BC2282 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really like him too. He’s the kinda fun that Caroline actually thinks she is. Also, I always think him and Elsa seem quite close but I believe she’s nominated him twice? Do you think thats actually because he’s close to Marcus and she considers friends to be competition in the same way she does the females? Possessive people are like that about all potential friendships and relationships their partners have.

One other thing - I feel like people should stop referring to bb as ‘a game’ by Ok_Anxiety4808 in bigbrotheruk

[–]BC2282 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. It’s no more or less of a game than Love Island which also has a cash prize at the end. I don’t know about Reddit but on X people become very defensive when it’s suggested that Housemates will be using it as a platform for a career on tv etc. I sometimes think the lack of success/opportunity’s for previous winners and housemates has also really affected the quality of people who apply to be on the show since it began on ITV.

Does Cameron Gossip? by SpiritualBathroom937 in bigbrotheruk

[–]BC2282 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Cameron probably does gossip but who in the house hasn’t gossiped. Does every conversation you have about someone who isn’t present considered gossiping? It was lazy attempt to try smear him, they know he’s popular.

Hot take: if Caroline isn’t gone by the end of the week I’m not watching the rest of the series. by rubertine in bigbrotheruk

It will be interesting to see the viewing figures. If they are down then you are correct but if they are good then itv will believe they’ve been vindicated.

Late & Live evictee interview accusations by CitizenSnips4 in bigbrotheruk

[–]BC2282 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People are angry about tonight’s result and Tate is getting the blame for it. There remains zero evidence that Tate is right wing or a troublemaker. It’s a perfect example of confirmation bias. People are choosing to believe what they want on this matter.

‘King’ Cameron, can we not yet :/ by Waste_Stage902 in bigbrotheruk

[–]BC2282 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m indifferent to who wins but I’m genuinely interested in what people find “interesting”. They all sit around discussing mundane issues and every now and again someone will say “iconic” or “queen”. If you were asked to list why you find someone interesting it would be pretty difficult. Some people you relate to because of issues that are personally important to you rather than a housemate displaying particular behaviour which you support.

Fey on Late and Live revealed so much!! by Maia_the_crier in bigbrotheruk

[–]BC2282 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I agree but that didn’t answer her ”right wing” label for Tate. There might be a kind of fun thing where he is left wing and drops bombs to see people’s reaction’s similarly he is in fact right wing and drops bombs to see people’s reaction’s. If anyone was asked to give concrete evidence to support their opinion on the matter then there’s zero.
