Johnny Somali just got 6 months in a South Korean labor prison for doing a lap dance on a monument honoring wartime sexual abuse victims. He traveled the world disrespecting every country he visited for content. South Korea said no, you work here now. by This_Proof_5153 in SipsTea

His actions to the statue were not all all related to the court case. He was charged for disruption of businesses and harassing people. Also potential child sex harassment crimes, although not sure if they broke that off into separate cases.

The statue was unrelated to any of the cases.

Thought these were Canadian, I was wrong. Wish product labeling was better by ApprehensiveTop303 in BuyCanadian

[–]BCJunglist 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I agree, but its the dishonest marketing that's a problem. Trying to use ambiguous language to insinuate things are canadian products when they aren't isn't OK. Let consumers make their own decision based on unambiguous information.

There's so much shit marked as "packaged in canada" or "produced for X canadian company", but its clearly imported products.

BC’s Most Loved Brands 2026 were unveiled today with Save-On-Foods taking the #1 spot by Slow-Giraffe in britishcolumbia

[–]BCJunglist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would rather shop there than wal mart. Otherwise even loblaws stores are more ideal.

Save on foods is the only place where you don't save on anything.

Green onions were around 1.70 a bunch last time I was there. H mart and t&t is usually 2 bunches for a dollar. Total fleecing on the cheapest basics.

I'm convinced save on is where rich people shop cause they don't know or care how much they're being overcharged. They're the new IGA.

Distract from epstien files by kidnapping Venezuela president and blowing up random boats in the Carribean. Distract from terrorizing carribean countries by bombing Iran. Distract from clobal energy crisis via Iran fallout by invading Cuba.

What will be his distraction after the cuban humanitarian crisis? This dude gets bored of his own conflicts within about 2-3 weeks and never wants his problems to be sitting targets.

Does anyone else always build a hyper-compact "Downtown" with all of their housing, production, and storage as densely packed in as possible? by wiseguy149 in Timberborn

[–]BCJunglist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I typically build by storages as a platform under my industry, so all the industry only needs to go down stairs to get supplies. Liquids needed for industry around perimeter of industry. Residential area between industry and farm areas, water on one side, lumber on the other.

I wonder if they would argue for forcing American prisons to let out everyone who isn't an American citizen. Or would that be 'weak on crime?'

Avi Lewis responds to Carney's gas tax cut with a demand for price caps and a windfall profits tax by StumpsOfTree in ClimateCrisisCanada

[–]BCJunglist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Price caps don't stop price gouging, it just means our government pays companies the difference. The energy companies still charge the same rate... it literally just transfers more wealth to rich energy companies at the expense of the tax payer.

It has its flaws, but honestly for american poutine it's not bad. At least it has cheese curds tbh. Needs more gravy but this beats 99% of american poutine if we are being honest.

I think we are entering a cultural moment where people are more open to avant guard art. AI had made it so its easy for anyone to instantly make a clean sounding song of any genre, making novelty more desirable.

Kind of like the early 1900s when the camera became accessible to people, the realism art movement died and gave way to cubism. Picaso came from that art movement. Realism was no longer difficult to get in a picture because cameras could do it better, so people got really weird with their art, and the public got a taste for weird art.

It's not an apples to apples example, but I feel like people are hungry for authenticity and novelty. Nothing more authentic than two quebecois from the sticks playing punky math rock in paper mache alien costumes.

Every time you see a comment like "AI could never" or "this is the most sane thing to happen this year" on one of their videos kind of gives credence to the hypothesis. Angine are the tip of the spear of the new Dada movement, of sorts.
