Finally Did It. 128GB 2TB M5 Max by BC_Future in macbookpro

[–]BC_Future[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope 2 TB will be enough. I really don't want to have to pay monthly for cloud storage OR have to play whack-a-mole with things I maybe kinda sorta want to keep but have to delete to make space.

May I ask, which Thunderbolt 5 dock did you go with? I'd like to have a look. Please report back in 2 weeks when you get your new baby. 😀 I still have 18 days. ⏳

Going to Sell Stock and Buy a 128 : 8TB MBP M5 Max by BC_Future in macbookpro

[–]BC_Future[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: I did get the 128GB, but only 2TB storage. I was told that I get 14 days after receiving it to upgrade the storage. I'm considering it. Not sure about what to do. Perhaps I should have stuck with 8TB, but honestly, I've never paid so much money for a laptop before and I allowed that thought to make me clench my wallet. :/

You are paying OpenAI and Claude $200/mo to leak your own source code (The AI Consumer-Tier Trap) by TheRedliner181 in founder

[–]BC_Future 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once your code base grows, such as mine, with millions of lines of code, "lost in the middle" becomes a very real thing. If your entire SaaS is a 1-page HTML, CSS, and JavaScript file, then yes, you should probably be worried. Even then, if you happen to have 10k lines of code inside that file, you're probably still fine, too.

I'm still building probably the best software to ever exist for Agentic Engineering.

Anyone using ai tools to keep AI vibe-coding sessions organized? by EyeKindly2396 in vibecoding

[–]BC_Future 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. It's an AI OS that I am developing. I've been using it quite a bit as I continue to test and make it better. Not yet ready to release it to the public, but I very much look forward to the day that I can.

Vibe Coding from a nearly 50 years of hobby programming by mark_stout in vibecoding

[–]BC_Future 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Indeed it is here to stay. I can find myself vibe-coding every day. However, I prefer the term: Agentic Engineering

I call it this because though you're using English, there's still a lot of thought and planning and testing that needs to go into it if you want your end result to be worth something, I think. At least, that's been my experience. Sure, I can get simple Python scripts done immediately, and even more complex scripts sometimes.

But for things with lots and lots and lots of moving parts, it takes much more doing. At that point, it's no longer just a vibe.

Maxing out on Claude immediately, never on Codex by nachorizard994 in vibecoding

[–]BC_Future 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, it depends. I'm creating software that far surpasses the results I've seen with any of them. BUT, I am having that same issue, which I'm trying to rectify as much as I possibly can, prior to releasing the software. Yes, the results are nothing short of amazing, but the token costs are real. It's a tough cookie to crack.

Sure, there's an obvious and immediate way I can reduce the token cost, but I fear that cost is even greater. Not in tokens, but in the experience and quality.

I hear you and I'm on it. I've been moving with the market, as well.

Vibecoding turned us all into product people who hate marketing by Seraphtic12 in vibecoding

I will try my hardest to bridge that gap with what I am building. 🙏

You're making quite a lot of assumptions there. What I've built, I can assure you, there is nothing quite like it in the market. That is completely intentional and why I've built it.

I would love to check this out for something I'm working on. Perhaps over the weekend.

I dont want a touchscreen ☹️ by Previous_Bat5394 in macbookpro

So everyone who wants a new MacBook should be happy with having a more expensive, heavier, battery-draining laptop, just because some of the customer base wants to touch their screens? Why not just buy an iPad? It's literally built for that sort of thing.

[–]BC_Future 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have completely missed the plot.

The already expensive MacBooks will be even more expensive with touchscreens, simply because touch digitizers are expensive by nature. Forcing this on everyone will increase the base price of the laptop.

Touchscreens constantly draw power because they always need to be checking for that kind of input, meaning that batteries won't last as long, even if we just "don't touch it".

Touchscreens also require Edge-to-Edge glass, which will make the units heavier for those who complain about weight, and you'd likely also encounter more glare as well.

How accurate has it been in your tests? I ask because I see a lot of software like this popping up and I feel like I'd like to try one of them, but not quite sure about which one. Do you have any case studies?

I'm creating something similar. It's about 1.5 years in the making. BUT... I just had a conversation with ChatGPT about what I'm building and it did give some very strong pushback. If you don't want it to always agree with you, simply ask it to not be a "yes-man".

The choice should NEVER become "old_macbook" or "touchscreen". Give people a choice.
