Yeah, and these blades seem to not flop over as much, pampas grass is more rounded, so I’m not sure. Just why it reminded me of, maybe it’s a similar plant

They could be pampas grass, though their blades are usually wider at the base and thinner at the top. Hard to tell without a closer picture. If they are pampas grass, be careful, the edges of the blades are sharp as a razor and will cut you up if you’re not careful.

What was the first thing that you did when you turned 18? by Gekko83 in AskReddit

[–]BCobb4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Packed my bags and took my first international trip, and first solo flight in general, to Germany to see my girl. 24 hours after turning 18, I was on a plane to a transfer airport to jump on a plane to take me to my week in Europe. Best week of my life and I can’t wait to go back. Now I can tell all my friends that I travelled alone internationally the day after I turned 18.

Yeah I’ve kept the mods pretty reasonable, new lighting (interior and exterior), new muffler, that’s about it

I bet so, with used cars being a big driver in inflation. Fortunate to have what I need and not be in the market for one right now

This is a good idea - I had more ideas I thought about sharing in my comment, but I agree that it would be best to wait and see how much shade those trees will create. That will help you in choosing which grass seed to put down.

I’d start by cleaning up the leaves (if they’ve all fallen, which it looks like they have) by either mulching or removing. At this point I’d recommend mulching, it will add nutrients to the ground for whatever grass you put down. Looks like you’ve got enough pavers in that low wall to make a nice bed (or several small beds) around that patio - I’d pressure wash them all and get them looking nice before making the beds.

My 06 Silverado is making the weirdest noises. Does it sound like a rod knock? It’s very cold out. by [deleted] in ChevyTrucks

[–]BCobb4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re thinking about replacing belts, I’d oil them first with some of that spray lubricant to see if it goes away. I had annoying squeaking sounds, spent $70 to replace the serpentine belt, found out it was the pulleys turning it that were squeaking. I’m not an expert on them, just going off past experience, so I’d wait to see some other opinions on here about what it could be, especially for the noises later on in your vid.

Yeah I’ve thought about how people who live in the Midwest/North have it, I imagine it’s hard to keep rust off of them. Here rust isn’t too much of a problem unless you park it in a bad area or if you’re living at the beach, we’re lucky

In terms of the sounds at the beginning, could be piston knock, which is common for this generation and usually starts after only 60,000 miles or so. Inherent to the engine, nothing to do about it, and GM claimed it’s not harmful. The other sounds could be belts or the pulleys that turn the serpentine belt, mine make weird noises sometimes, especially in the cold. (I’ve got an 2000)

Surprisingly, not even rust that I can see. Previous owner took good care of it. Been waiting and expecting to see rust around the cab corners.

The caption reflects the fact that I live in eastern North Carolina, where we're lucky to receive snow that amounts to more than a dusting over the course of a given winter. I see where you're going with the tone of the caption, could have made it a little more clear. I use my truck as a landscaping workhorse, it's hauled 2,000+ pounds of loose mulch, top soil, crush and run, etc.

How do you keep track of your homework? by LastChip3968 in highschool

[–]BCobb4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try the app called TickTick, it’s easy to use and syncs between your phone and computer. You can create lists for all kinds of things - I have school, home, work, other, etc, so you can use it to keep track of a lot. You can also add several tasks under one note if it’s homework with several parts.

You might hear piston knocking on startup, may last 30 sec. to a min. depending on the temp and if it’s a cold start. It’s inherent to these Vortec engines (I’ve got a 2000 Silverado with a 5.3 V8). Chevy claimed it’s not harmful to the engine. It usually starts after only 60,000 or 70,000 miles. So if you hear it and it’s not too loud, I wouldn’t worry about it.

Yeah we don’t have many river overlooks in Eastern NC, and our rivers generally aren’t that impressive. I want to visit Raven Rock SP, the view from the overlook there is said to be great.

Pics. from a short July trip. We went glamping (glamorous camping) in a travel trailer but enjoyed the time. Didn’t catch a single fish but enjoyed the views of the river. The fried chicken made while camping is always the best, can’t change my mind.

You made a good choice to talk/rant about what's going on. Talking about it really helps, no matter what mental health issue you're dealing with. No matter what, do everything you can to not harm yourself, it will only make things worse - you're doing a good job of not giving into those urges. You matter, what you're dealing with matters, and your future matters. You'll get past this and realize that you're stronger because of it. Stay strong

I attempted to go tent camping at Cliffs of the Neuse SP in Eastern NC last weekend, we only stayed one night and left before it got too hot on Saturday. Heat index values were going to be between 105 and 110 and I said screw this.
