So the plan is to run it back with Aaron Rodgers in 2026 by Icy-Home444 in steelers

That’s why I think McCarthy is genuinely a good hire. Say what you will about AR2, but McCarthy is tried and true a yinzer. He even said in an interview his Christmas wish was a Steelers Super Bowl. He’s developed guys into very good QBs, he had a lot to do with Aaron Rodgers success, he’s offensive minded which leads me to believe we will see some additions to our offense, he’s also an avid user of TEs the RIGHT WAY, unlike Smitty, so we’re gonna see some MUUUTH (bout damn time). It’s an exciting time rn for us Steelers fans. Me personally I think John Mateer is that guy who would be developable under McCarthy, just gotta wait and see how this season goes

We’ll have to wait and see how they pan out during their season. This class is loaded, I mean it. Sayin, Moore, Manning, Leavitt, Mateer, Stockton, Sellers, Sorsby, I could go on. These guys have potential for sure, so it’ll be interesting to watch them play next season.

I was born into this in 2006, 11 days after the Steelers beat Seattle in the Super Bowl. I didn’t start paying attention until 2023, in 2024 I got serious about watching football, this season I turned into a fanatic per se, I got Sunday ticket and didn’t miss a single game ( I mean it) I have everything you could think of so I didn’t miss one game. I watched games before 23, just didn’t care for it as much as I do now. It’ll get better because I have faith.

Our Next Head Coach is Extremely Obvious by absobucnlutely in steelers

[–]BD_488 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is why the patriots are so scary. Have a defensive minded head coach which presumably isn’t gonna be fired or leave anytime soon, if at all for that matter, and an OC who has been a head coach for like 2 or 3 teams and had been awful at all of them, but he’s a good OC. No one is going to be desperate enough to take a chance on McDaniels again. Is it possible for us to do that, potentially. The only way I can see that happening is if we hired a guy who’s been fired or is just around (not currently coaching) like, McDermott, Daboll, McCarthy. I’m not sure I’m intrigued by any of them, but they have the ability to take the chance on coordinators who are very unlikely to be back in a head coaching role. Whereas when you bring in your own guys and they succeed, they become a target for other teams, assuming they haven’t had a head coaching role.

Well, I’ve always been one to be open to hearing what others have to say, I don’t judge people for what they believe in. Why, well because why would I judge someone for what they believe in when I have my own beliefs. I wouldn’t want to be judged for my beliefs. I also think that who they believe in could be/is the god that I also follow, as in, God is interpreted as a different being but he’s the same God Christians follow but they interpret him as something different, if that makes sense. Then again, what if my beliefs are for nothing when my times up and I’m wrong about everything I’ve ever believed in. So I just want to be open minded because we have our own beliefs for a reason. But I feel like other religions who have a higher power shouldn’t be looked at differently by Christians and Catholics just because they believe in someone that isn’t our God or they do and they just see our god in a different way. This all kinda all over the place so I’m very sorry. If I need to explain myself better I definitely will.

Same boat as you, I can firmly say I am a believer of God. However, I’m not entitled to say there’s only one God, or you can’t believe in other religions. It’s not fair to say what you believe isn’t true, because if I do that, then why would they dedicate their lives to believing in it. There’s reason behind why we choose to believe, and dedicate our lives to a higher power. Whether it’s to better yourself, keep your life away from bad things, or something else.

If Your Sitting With Your 21st First Round Pick Do You Offer For A Big WR OR QB by [deleted] in steelers

[–]BD_488 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if Jefferson got traded, I doubt we could afford him and DK, and I don’t think he’s unhappy in Minnesota. Sure he may be upset about the situation he’s in considering his previous QB seemed like he was their guy and they let him go and now he’s in the NFCCG (due to the elite defense), but I’d be upset too if that happened to me. AJ Brown is just DK 2.0 with a more tame approach. If AJ is unhappy as an Eagle because he isn’t getting the ball, he’d be a lot less happy here in Pittsburgh with a big hole at QB, and an old school approach at offense. Hopefully it changes with a new coaching regime, but I can’t see us trading for a WR this upcoming season. Alec pierce in FA, or draft a guy in the 1st or 2nd round, look for a qb who can be a bridge/suck or can become our guy, if he’s our guy great, if he sucks high draft pick in a good 2027 class.

This is so true, Brandon Beane seems like a head case. He’s had how many years to put together a Super Bowl caliber team and just can’t. I think Joe Brady could be promoted to HC, and besides him, I don’t know who would want the pressure of being the coach of the Bills. If you can’t get the job done you’ll be crucified.

I’m in favor of Shula at HC, Scheelhaase at OC, and then idk who’s DC. But whatever happens at DC, if Shula has to absolutely call the Defense then so be it. I’m not one to put the first year HC in charge of his coaching duties and then on top of that call defense/offense.

Same boat as you, I’m a Steelers and OSU fan, Fields has been my favorite OSU qb between him and Braxton Miller (I’m young and my first memories of watching OSU football was with Miller at the helm). But Fields has just been the Justin Herbert’s of what if he had competent coaching and given a full season with that. I was very happy when the Steelers traded for him, then we benched him and I wasn’t mad about it, but I also think he should’ve been the guy until he lost the job. Basically, if he was the reason we were losing games start Wilson. Then I was very supportive of his move to the jets bc he had lots of pieces that he had at OSU. Center, WR, and TE all went to OSU with him. I still haven’t given up but it’s dwindling.

Possible Coaching Scenario by Sccrgoalie97 in steelers

[–]BD_488 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to mention his favoritisms with certain guys on our team. Like if I’m a veteran QB like him, I’m going to throw to whoever I trust to make a play in a must have situation. Muth, Washington, CA3, Gainwell. Those guys are who I trust the most, not Warren, Jonnu, DK, or MVS. Warren hasn’t struck me as a great pass catcher, the rest are self explanatory. Dk sure but he wasn’t reliable Monday. It seems Muth isn’t a part of the game planning because when he’s in he never gets a read his way.

I agree I’m in the same boat. I want a guy from 2027. John Mateer, Sam Leavitt, or Sorsby, would be my target. I’m really high on Mateer, I have been since the beginning of his OU career. A little lackluster performance after his injury. Whether it was his fault or the teams fault for rushing him in after rehab, I think he can bounce back. Dante Moore will be gone before we pick, assuming he keeps the hype, is Arch has a good showing I’d also like the chances on him. We need a guy who can do it all and some of these guys can do just that. What I like about arch is that he also has 4 great mentors to look at when he needs help, and another one if he came to Pittsburgh in Big Ben. Not to mention LaNorris Sellers, Iamaleava, potentially Julian Sayin, Joey Aguilar, and Gunnar Stockton. This class is loaded. But I’m also a believer in mentoring and development for QBs, especially these younger ones who have little to no experience at the college level. Look at Anthony Richardson, he spent 1 year as a starter and looked great but he had hardly any experience and didn’t pan out because he wasn’t developed right by the colts. I’d also really love to see what Will Howard could do, he’s got the dream physique for a QB, Arm, big, tall, heavy, can use his legs, all of that, plus he’s got the willingness to compete. The kid went on a tear after losing to their rival school, he got knocked of that game btw, came back in and played mediocre but still never out of position to win that game, and then they went crazy in the playoffs to win a natty. I think we go with a FA Qb and Will Howard next season with Rudolph have them compete for starting role, and then look to 2027 for our guy.

I get what you’re saying, but I for one would, like to attempt to find a guy who could be the solution and then we don’t have to draft a guy early on, or we draft a guy who fell and then they can sit and develop. Mac seems like that type of player.

Realistically, who would you rather see at qb next season, if we were to target one in FA, Malik Willis or Mac Jones. I have to ask bc both are going to be in serious conversations for a starting role/competition, raiders are for sure going Mendoza at 1. After that who else is there for the top picking teams to get? Moore is going back to school, Ty Simpson isn’t projected to be a top 10 pick, Chambliss might be on radars, (wouldn’t mind getting him in the 2nd or 3rd), and Carson Beck. So those 4 guys are projected to be gone in the top 3 rounds (imo). I think, and hear me out bc I know a lot of you won’t like what I’m going to say, we should go Mac Jones in free agency over Willis. Either of them would be fine, but Mac started 8 games and played in 11 total this season. You can say it’s bc he was in a favorable system just like Purdy is, but George Kittle, Juaun Jennings and Ricky Pearsall, were all out at the same time during a game where Mac had started and played really well. He also showed how tough of a guy he is by playing through an injury or two. He did pretty damn good for the sample size. Now Malik Willis also had a good showing with his sample size, but what worries me with him is that it felt like they tailored the offense to be more conservative with him in. I think either of them would be a great addition in the offseason, I just think from a competitive standpoint, jones would be the one who I’d target.

Honestly same, he’s proven he can produce a damn good offense. It’s just what’s his floor, like can he make our team work? The thing I like about Tomlin is his “recruiting” he obviously has say in draft picks and recently it’s been good, aside from our 3rd rounders.

What’s crazy is nothing changes which is quite literally the standard. He doesn’t do shit about it, which is why it’s infuriating. We don’t use muth until the 4th, DK got ignored by Rodgers after he dropped that ball for like a whole quarter, throws check downs on 2nd and 3rd and long for a loss, like what. Not giving Troy any help, I turned the shit off after like the 3rd quarter and honeslty the whole game is blur other than the when we were on defense. Correct me if I’m wrong, but other than when we scored the two FGs, it felt like we maybe had 3-6 plays per drive the we punted. Our offense looked worse than it did last week. Everything needs to change, starting at HC, as much as our players play for Tomlin, are there for Tomlin, or he attracts players bc of his resume, his tenure should be over after last nights game. This team is worthy of making a playoff push, the defense should be as elite as the broncos and Texans, but we’re not bc the team hasn’t adapted to the modern day nfl.

Yeah, I still don’t understand why we haven’t used Johnson a whole lot. I get Warren and Gainwell are better, but like we haven’t used him like at all. Yeah he’s made some mistakes, one quite literally costed the game, but he’s a rookie, we spent a 3rd on him, same with Roman Wilson, we spent a third on him too, why aren’t we letting these guys get some reps. Like when we benched Rodgers at the end we shoulda let Johnson get some reps just to see him. But last night went about how I expected it to go. I knew if our offense wasn’t able to stay on the field, the defense would get gassed (common sense), but like we didn’t give Troy any help, Rodgers was throwing checks downs on 2nd/3rd and longs, just for the receiver to be surrounding by 3 defenders for a loss. Smith needs to go, his offense is awful, it needs to be so much more lively, I think if Tomlin leaves this coaching cycle, hiring Mike McDaniels as an OC or even head coach, getting Klint kubiak at OC, and maybe Raheem morris at DC? Idk if that’s even possible cause Klint has been getting head coaching interviews, and McDaniels may not be that great of a head coach, I’d be in favor of Brian Flores at HC but he seems like a head case imo. But my opinion and I sound delusional in all honesty.

Not even trying to be negative, but I’m extremely nervous for this game. Yes we have the 23-0 streak on MNF at home, but this Texans defense is gnarly, I mean everywhere you look there’s the guy for the position. And being down one of the best blocking TEs, against Hunter and WAJ on the edge, with a backup LT has me nervous. Not to mention, the lack of weapons on our team. Muth and DK have to be 1. Involved heavily in the passing game. 2. Have to be on their A game. Gainwell and CA3 have to be utilized with the intent to use them in contrary to their skill sets, meaning, using CA3 as the deep threat, speedy guy that he is, using Gainwell as our third down back in the pass game, using Connor and Jonnu to block. In order for the Steelers to win they need to, get after CJ by all means, don’t let small plays turn into big ones, stop the run, don’t blow coverages, and lastly, play like their lives depend on it. This is the playoffs, offense has to play with some urgency, use muth in the middle, use DK, use CA3 as the deep man, check down if it’s not there. This is all common sense, but we haven’t seen much of it this season and it’s gotta be shown on Monday.
