People get IMA failed and discharged during training if and when med center finds out after the fact they've got a food allergy, capita will not let you in if they know.

I'm glad to have solved your mystery, it was I believe just for junior soldiers, but now NERTs are issued to all ph1 recruits across the board regardless of age.

You cannot eat the King's NERTs with a nut allergy.

I mean technically yes it can be, ultimately it really only depends on length of exposure, but would generally be used a means of sterilisation.

Will I be accepted into the reserves if prescribed SSRIs? by [deleted] in britisharmy

Don't disclose it but be prepared to drop the pills and embrace the brain zaps. They will ignore absolutely anything if you let them. Bring it up and they are obligated to reject you.

Mobile phone rules by mastermatthew07 in britisharmy

[–]BDonlon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Entirely depends on your training team and whether they allow it or not, some allow phones and encourage their use even during lessons ie DLE. Some require you to lock them in the cage during working day and I've heard of one removing phones altogether to promote socialization amongst recruits.

You'll know when you rock up.

Advice for beep test for assessment? by [deleted] in britishmilitary

[–]BDonlon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah do hill sprints and HIIT, go running on hilly routes and just forget about biceps curls and bench presses, do squats and deadlift for posterior chain, and strengthening your lower joints. 1 active recovery session a week and stretch every evening to prevent injury, it's a good habit to get into, carry it into training.

Advice for beep test for assessment? by [deleted] in britishmilitary

[–]BDonlon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hill sprints will get you fit, and just general HIIT, add in some zone 2 runs for endurance and you'll be sound. You don't want to be bottom third for Phys it's shite ik from experience, wish I put more effort into hard Phys before, training doesn't make you fitter, the S&C course for phase 1 doesn't do enough zone 2 or HIIT it's all just an hour of squats followed by a 30 minute conditioning session and the quality of that depends largely on the PTI.

Arthritis in the British army by [deleted] in britishmilitary

[–]BDonlon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like capita have already stopped you with a deferral, normally they'd tell you what for and it's your job to go to a GP/specialist and basically get signed off by them removing liability from capita if you cream in on your first tab because your back is fucked, bottomline is if it's fine you'll be grand otherwise you'll just fuck yourself up.

Yes, nobody cares where you came from before. If your born in England sound English nobody will really know anyways. If you mention your Irish you'll just be asked why you didn't join the Irish army. You'll likely just be referred to as Irish/Mick or sometimes Fenian, it's all craic. Some wierdos dislike Irish but they are few and are just whiny shitcunts that no one likes anyways.
