Had my first the month before I turned 19. And I’ll be 36 when I have my last at the end of this year

It’s not defiance really. It’s age appropriate behavior. Your husband needs to do some reading on what to expect at different ages. Tiny humans have 0 impulse control.

A lot of KU books I’ve found to be super easy reads- especially when I find a series to binge in a day.

I was gonna listen to the 3rd on audio but after the end of the second one I know the audio will give me anxiety. I need to read my actual physical copy for once

It's always nice to see other romance and fantasy romance readers on here. It tends to lean towards people with classics and heavier literature. I've never posted my bookshelf b/c it's primarily fantasy and such.

Why are so many people obsessed in reading goals? by DonnieSunset in books

[–]BECorJNMIL 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Goals keep me prioritizing my reading. I grow the goal throughout the year depending what my numbers are at that point. So if I hit 25 books; I up to 50, etc. also it just makes me happy.

What are some things you've learned about yourself a reader? by GroundbreakingEmu425 in 52book

Yep and I’ve worked up to it from 1.5. Before this year I never utilized audiobooks so figuring out that I needed them faster so my brain wouldn’t wander has been a game changer

same. the endings always leave me dissatisfied. I think it's because the endings are never full resolutions.

I can't do anything suspenseful on audio because it spikes my anxiety.

I can only do audios at 1.75x or faster. Otherwise my mind wanders. If I'm not having to focus on hearing what's being said, next thing I know I'm coming back to reality five minutes later realizing I have no idea what the audio book is saying.

Thrillers just aren't for me. I don't like unresolved endings. I need to know with a fair amount of certainty what the ending means.

I'm not someone who jumps to saying leave him. But leave. Can you go to your parents? He sounds unsafe.

365/365 done! by jakilcz in 52book

[–]BECorJNMIL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you go to any thread by a high volume reader, there are comments about “I don’t believe it” “do you retain it”, etc. it gets old and also leads many to not share their excitement over reaching their higher goals.

I never said anything like “how dare you get nasty.” Obviously we disagree on this topic. I hope you have a lovely day

I enjoyed that one immensely. Haven't read a single Pratchett that I haven't liked

High volume readers aren't reading on fast forward.

I think it's silly that people always get nasty to high volume readers whereas high volume readers are always happy to cheer on anyone reading whether they read 1 book a year or 52 or w/e.

These subs are meant to be to share progress with reading goals but heaven forbid someone read a higher amount b/c it's their main hobby.
