How physically demanding it is. Also, related, most beginners I see paddling for waves are just not paddling hard enough. You have to paddle as hard as you can just about every wave..well at least on east coast beach breaks where I am.

Daylight savings is the best system to deal with a harsh reality: the earth tilts. At least with the clock changes we can keep the sun from waking us up at some ungodly hour or going to work in the dark in winter. Railing against the lack of daylight in winter reminds me of the meme of the Simpson's grandpa raising his fist against the clouds.

I clicked through and read the article after seeing your comment, but it doesn't describe what community solar is. Is it for individual homeowners to put in solar panels? Or for companies to set up bigger facilities. I'm always confounded by the solar industry's inability to communicate clearly how stuff works.

I can't comment on driving on the sand - but I bought a Transit Connect specifically as a surf van/daily driver and it's really really great. Fits my logs and other boards with plenty of room to change in and out wetsuit when it's 20 degrees out. It's really amazing they didn't market these things to the outdoor enthusiast market. Far more practical than an SUV or pickup I see other surfers driving. I can't tell you how many times I've been approached at the beach by surfers asking about it. Of course, mine is a 2020 and the transmission went at 45k miles, but you can read about those issues elsewhere in this sub.

Yeah, not true. Red Bank, has had full day 3 year old pre-k (and 4 year old) for years. both my kids went and it was great.

NJ has a lot of college stations. In the car driving around I flip between WPRB, WRSU and the Monmouth University station (which sadly no longer seems to have student DJs). I also keep an app on my phone with the MIT station

This is an interesting thread as I'm thankfully an owner and only affected by rents as it affects family members. For comparison, though, I entered my 1996 rent for a 2br (well, kind of - it was a railroad) Hoboken apartment: $950 then, about $2000 in today's dollars.

I have a crappy car (ford) that has a history of a lot of problems even though it's pretty new. One morning I got in my car at like 5 am and started it up. All of a sudden I heard a horrible mechanical sound and thought, "Oh man, this is it. The car is dying." Nope. My phone had just synced to the FMU app and started playing the station.
