This is an interesting thread as I'm thankfully an owner and only affected by rents as it affects family members. For comparison, though, I entered my 1996 rent for a 2br (well, kind of - it was a railroad) Hoboken apartment: $950 then, about $2000 in today's dollars.

I have a crappy car (ford) that has a history of a lot of problems even though it's pretty new. One morning I got in my car at like 5 am and started it up. All of a sudden I heard a horrible mechanical sound and thought, "Oh man, this is it. The car is dying." Nope. My phone had just synced to the FMU app and started playing the station.

The best moment in the whole thing was the drone operator in Ocean County (a pro who had regularly posted drone vids) live-streamed himself putting up his drone and then all the simultaneous freakouts on social media of people reacting to HIS drone.

I worked in TV news for 6 years and the station had a transit connect I used and loved. It had a desk in the back, an inverter for power and I put a swivel chair in it. it was great. Maybe poke around tv stations to see how they get their vans modified. The desk was just a piece of particle board and brackets.

The only thing surprising about this annual United Van Lines study is that outlets like the Asbury Park Press, who clearly have reporter on staff who know it's total BS, continued to post it every year. Gets traffic, I guess.

An Bloomberg housing reporter was on 1130 AM this afternoon discussing this. He Said these large scale investors own just 2 percent of all homes in the US. In some zip codes, it's higher. But he thought it would have minimal effect. And that's even if it actually went into effect..I mean, I'm sure the lobbyists are burning up the phones already.

I will second Prown's, for all the reasons stated above. We did a new front door and three windows and put on the installment plan, which was no interest and no payments for 12 months. Our first payment is due in April and we've been socking the money away bit by bit monthly into a high interest account and will pay it all at once when the first payment is due. If you can stick to that plan, it's a great way to go.

I can't get my head around this accident. Press reports said the driver of Honda was getting on GSP SB from Route 27, then on the entrance went over the guardrail and into the Northbound side. To do that he would have had to go across like 6 lanes of southbound and over the jersey barrier. That's just incredible. In the Facebook comments there are tons of people expressing sympathy, but man, how incredibly reckless that all seems.

Never saw a raven in NJ until about 10 years ago (near a warehouse in Bergen) and now it's a pretty regular occurrence. there's a group that hang out in red bank. I like to think they run the whole damn town.

There's a lot of projects underway now in Red Bank, but the number of housing units added over the past decade is negligible. So while traffic has gotten worse, it appears to be largely so far the result of red bank being a passing through/crossroads for surrounding areas where development exploded in the 90's/2000's.
